Round 1 – Mario Yamasaki is our referee and we’re under way. Aldo looks much larger than Mendes in the octagon. Mendes landing his own legkicks as Aldo times them. Aldo then fires an answer to one that lands brutally. Mendes ducks a hook and misses a takedown attempt that Aldo uses correct wrestling defense to avoid. That’s something to watch as the fight goes on. Quick break for a cup shot but Aldo is ready to go. Aldo lands a wicked uppercut and Mendes dives for an outside single leg that he again defends perfectly. Aldo defends another shot beautifully and Mendes is beginning to get more tentative compared to how he opened. Aldo is stalking but is being careful to not keep his feet planted. Aldo throws a knee that Mendes uses for a takedown attempt but Aldo is defending well. Mendes is throwing knees to the back of Aldo’s legs. Aldo gets a small window of separation and levels Mendes with brutal knee and follows it up with a wicked right to the downed Mendes. Yamasaki quickly breaks it up before Aldo fires another strike. Aldo is so excited he sprints out of the cage and begins celebrating with the fans. It takes awhile to finally get the reluctant Aldo back to the Octagon but they do for the announcement.

Jose Aldo (c) defeats Chad Mendes via KO (knee) at 4:59 of Round 1.

Round 1 – Johnson attempts a poor front kick and throws several wild shots. He looks massive. Belfort fires a kick but Johnson catches it and inside trips Belfort down to the mat. Belfort recovers and pulls guard after a hard shot from AJ. Another front kick to a takedown attempt by AJ. Belfort sprawls and uses the cage to stay up. Referee Dan Miraglotta separates them. AJ ducks for a takedown but eats a hard a knee from Belfort. AJ finally gets him down and is just looking to smother Belfort without posturing up. Miraglotta stands them up quickly again. Hard but wild knee from AJ and he looks for another takedown. Belfort defends and lands some punches before taking AJ’s back off a spin. Belfort throws the hooks in and is pounding AJ from top. AJ just covering up but doesn’t look hurt. Belfort locks up a rear naked choke and transitions to a Gable grip to choke AJ out cold. AJ’s dehydration clearly showed as the fight wore on.

Round 1 – Leon Roberts is our referee and we’re under way. Nasty inside legkick rises a little high and clips the side of Massenzio’s cup. Palhares misses a cross knee pick and goes for a double leg. Massenzio blocks but Palhares takes another shot and pulls guard directly into a heel hook and Massenzio’s knee explodes… brutal finish and Palhares quickly let’s go. Amazing display of BJJ.

Rousimar Palhares def. Maike Massenzio via sub (heel hook) at 1:03 of Round 1.

Round 1 – Fighters looks to feel each other other but then Silva lands a punch and then wicked knee that buckles Prater. Silva quickly pounces and that’s it. Prater is clearly hurt badly and pointing to his shoulder but apparently the fight will go as a DQ. One punch clearly hit the back of the head but the rest were legal. Replay shows the punches (save for one) landing on the side of the head and Joe openly disagrees with Mario Yamasaki in the Octagon. Tough but bad call for Silva. Expect the UFC to review this since there is no AC. Silva shows Yamasaki respect in defeat.

Round 1 – Dan Miraglotta is our referee and we are underway. Neither fighter wastes anytime as Etim looks to grapple immediately but Barboza has none of it. Action slows as both fighters look for an opening. Barboza lands a wicked leg kick off a fake. Another powerful legkick from Barboza in response to a light combo from Etim. Etim with a lazy left that gets countered twice by Barboza. Etim with a nice left hook and he attempts a takedown. Barboza defends using the cage and we’re centered now. Barboza doubles up with some inside legkicks and Etim replies with one of his own to Barboza’s thigh. Short time now, and both fighters look for opening until the bell rings. Etim looked good early, but Barboza took the round late with more effective striking, MMAFrenzy scores the round 10-9 Barboza.

Round 2 – Barboza picks right back up from where he started with more leg kicks. Etim attemps a legkick to headkick combo but Barboza defends. Barboza with another crushing kick. Etim is stuffed on another takedown attempt. Etim stalks forward but Barboza is still finding openings as he evades Etim. Barboza starts off a nice combo with a body shot that he seals with a kick to the body. Most effective combo of the round so far. Etim finally lands a takedown with 1:40 left but Barboza bounces right back up and we’re centered again. Nice body shot by Barboza. Outside legkick by Barboza lands again. Barboza lands a body kick right before the round ends. Barboza is controlling the fight with his striking and takedown defense. MMAFrenzy scores the round 10-9 Barboza (20-18)

Round 3 – Barboza opens the round with another strong kick. Etim fakes a shot and looks for a duck under but Barboza snuffs it out quickly. Fighters trade but nothing of significance lands. Etim fails on another takedown attempt. Barboza with an amazing spinning wheel kick that lands flush and Etim is out before he hits the mat! Etim was gone on impact and Barboza just walks away.
