Johny Hendricks needed just 12-seconds to knockout perennial contender Jon Fitch in their welterweight showdown on UFC 141’s pay-per-view main card, while Alexander Gustafsson and Jim Hettes also scored dominant wins ahead of the night’s co-headliners in Las Vegas.
Hendricks landed a left hook with his first punch of the fight to send Fitch to the canvas and followed with just one more punch on the ground before referee Steve Mazzagatti jumped in. Hendricks improves to 12-1 with his third-straight win and the first finish of Fitch in the UFC, while the loss snaps Fitch’s six-fight unbeaten streak and marks just his second defeat inside the Octagon.
Gustafsson, a top light heavyweight prospect, dropped Vladimir Matyushenko with a jab and finished the veteran with punches on the ground to cap off an undefeated year with his fourth-straight win, while Hettes remained unbeaten and improved to 2-0 in the UFC with a dominant unanimous decision over fellow featherweight Nam Phan.
Still to come is the UFC 141 main event between heavyweight contenders Brock Lesnar and Alistair Overeem and a lightweight showdown between Donald Cerrone and Nate Diaz. Click here for live UFC 141 results.
