Rising featherweight Erik Koch has suffered an undisclosed injury that has forced him to out of his UFC 143 fight against Dustin Poirier that was scheduled for the February 3 event in Las Vegas.
The UFC announced the injury on Tuesday afternoon and is now searching for a replacement to face Poirier.
Koch (13-1) earned back-to-back UFC wins over Raphael Assuncao and Jonathan Brookins after going 3-1 in the WEC with his only loss coming to top contender Chad Mendes. Poirier (11-1) rebounded from his only career loss to Danny Castillo with a victory in the WEC before earning three-straight UFC wins over Josh Grispi, Jason Young, and Pablo Garza.
