The Strikeforce heavyweight grand prix final between Josh Barnett and Daniel Cormier is expected to take place on March 3 in Columbus, Ohio, according to MMAjunkie.
The Barnett-Cormier winner will be crowned the tournament winner and will fight one more time for the promotion before likely joining the UFC with Strikeforce set to end its heavyweight division.
Barnett (31-5) advanced to the finals with submission wins over Brett Rogers and Sergei Kharitonov, while Cormier (8-0) earned a spot in the tournament with a win over Jeff Monson before breaking his hand in a semifinal knockout of Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva that delayed the finals.
The March 3 event would take place alongside the Arnold Sports Festival like UFC 68, UFC 82, and UFC 96, and WEC 47 from 2007 to 2010.

Is Dana just putting his bets on Cormier so the Ufc doesn’t have to play nice with Barnett?
They don’t have to do anything with Barnett. Even if he wins the tournament, I don’t see Zuffa bringing him over at all. It’s just as likely that they will let him go back to Japan.
Barnett’s big sweaty roid infested butt…. popular – no. But barnett has a great chin and cardio. is probably the most skilled HW in the world.
cormier has the best chances in the strikeforce HW’s against barnett..
Josh’ll probably beat cormier he’s bigger and only marginally slower if at all.
brock would be an interesting opponent for barnett. Master catch wrestling vs the mega- primate class wrestler – interesting. JDS might be the first to KO Barnett or not- if he finally would have to show his ground game and probably lose there..
Reem , i’d give only a first minute K! punchers chance. werdum would lose slowly and painfully.
Mir might outstrike Barnett but wouldn’t submit him and would have to be weary of the clinch.
There are not a lot of guys who’d I’d bet on against Barnett .
