So am i to consider my theory about how the UFC has been stacking brazilians on the shelf for a couple years, waiting for brazilian coaches. Cause NOG, nor Silva or Machida speak english, correct? Probably gona be a double weight class season again? That’s one badass brazilian training team.
Some fantastic coaches Nog has got !
I bet no one will want to be on Mir’s team and who can blame them !
Nog speaks flawless English thats why he was picked.
I hope Machida’s slow style don’t rub off…
Nogs team isnt gonna lose but question his teams gonna have him teachin jits and silva doing muay thai wats machida gonna specialize in how to live ur life like the samurai or mayb how to b boring in every fight except sokoudjou still nogs team is gonna b a group of trained killers
F U “huertarogerhuerta”…machida is not boring. i enjoy his fights and i bet if you were fighting him, boring would be the last thing on your mind.
BADASS coaches. If i were a fighter who’s team would i be on???one with two UFC champions and one ligit contender. Or on a team with a good jits guy, frank mir who is questionable, and some other guy…..I know i would be on TEAM BRAZIL.lolol
Well I WAS for Mir winning the show and the fight… but damn, Nog’s team is stacked…
IM WITH huertarogerhuerta… MACHIDA IS A BORING ASS FIGHTER BUT THAT TEAM IS STACKED… IM REALLY NOT LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS SEASON… ARE THEY GONNA HAVE TRANSLATORS FOR THE HOLE SHOW. IM SURE THATS GONNA INTERFERE WITH THE TRAINING. TALK ABOUT A HEADACHE. GO FRANK MIR…
We all know being the head coaches on TUF means no fights for the coaches until the season is over? Does the same apply to Anderson Silva and Lyota Machida? Are they now unable to fight in the UFC for 4 months until the season is over? If so, I think that is a terrible decision of Dana to put all those great fighters on lockdown.
I would do everything in my POWER to get on Nogueira’s team!!! LOOK @ HIS LINE-UP OF COACHES
DAMN!!!
MACHINDA isnt a boring fighter, he is an intelligent fighter. Only the ignorant would consider him boring. his style, skills and talents are on another level. if he was to fight page that would be an very interesting fight because rampage would press him but machida might be able to nullify his fighting style.
Machida may be boring but wow he can avoid you like the plague. He’s a great counter striker and I’m not sure who can stop him right now. I hope his next fight isn’t a wuss like Tito.
hampsterwheel don’t get so upset just because someone thinks a fighter is boring. He’s partly right after that last Ortiz fight. He never really banged at all. Extremely boring fight and Tito didn’t get to go out in style even with his loss. Had it not been for that almost triangle choke at the end he would be STILL be holding his head in shame.
They’re both very good teams. Nogs definitely has more name power but to have Mir, on of the best heavyweight jiu jitsu guys, and Drysdale on the same team should give their fighters a really good submission experience.
Nog for sure speaks decent English. He did a Q&A with the UFC fight club at UFC 82. I’ve never heard Silva speak English and I’m not sure about Machida. They will have a good staff of translators I’m sure.
BUT DON’T YOU THINK THE TRANSLATING WILL BE HARDER TO CORNER THE FIGHTERS AND TO DO THE TRAING. I MEAN THE TRANSLATERS CAN ONLY BE USED SO MUCH.
hey curtis get your facts right..machida had the flu or was sick when he fought tito he kill the african assian! i think this is the greatest coaching staff ever machida antonio and silva!!! wow
Maybe this season of the UFC will be Brazil v. Everyone or something. Dana keeps mixing it up. If he is trying to pull talent, its not a bad idea to look where the talent is, regardless of the english problem… ESPECIALLY if its more fights and less talking.
Silva, can’t speak english, but Nog and Machida can. Machida is so-so, but NOG is pretty good at english.
nev-o
That is his style. Whether he was sick or not he would have been fighting the same style of fight. Machida is a intelligent fighter, however it by no means is one that is considered exciting.
ide want to be on nogs team if i was a fighter the no.1 p4p fighter in the world and one of the best up an comeing stars, no one will want to be on mir’s team haha
still think nog an mir will be a bore fest tho will see more action down the nags on a friday night, haha
the cornering from silva might be a little if-y but if i was going to ask for one coach out of anyone in the world it would definately be silva, there are absolutely no holes in his game. i wasn’t excited by this season at all because the hw division is the slowest most boaring division out there but now that they got speed and power on both sides, i cant wait to watch this one
I agree with Kris,They are both good teams , Nog just has more Name power behind his team , but Mir and Drysdale very good submission guys
Holy $hitballs! If I were a fighter I would want to be on Nogs team despite the language barrier. Don’t get me wrong, Mir and Drysdale are no joke and I see this season of TUF fighters being the luckiest bastards yet. Any fighter who blows this opportunity should be shot. If the fighters listen to their trainers we could be in for some great technical fights this season.
One more thing…..Nog and Silva are opening training facilities in Florida and I am sure this will be a great way of promoting aside from being champions. It would be cool for that season of TUF to go Brazil vs USA. I just wonder if they can really make two teams built up with the best available talent going about team making by country.
why the F would mir have a jiu jitsu assistant coach when he’s already skilled at it himself? why not bring in a wrestling or striking coach so that his team can get a little bit of everything. i have a feeling that team brazil is going to dominate cuz silva alone can teach just about everything there needs to be known about the sport.
I don’t like the idea of the country thing. I think that this is going to be a good season. Hopefully better than TUF7 which really seems to be just coasting by at the moment. You need some real drama, and it’s not cutting it at the moment.
I think that Machida is a champ in the making. Regardless of his pace, he dictates how fast that fight needs to be for him. And his opponent doesn’t seem to do well with it. Anderson and Nog… well, that just speaks for itself!
No doubt Mir is good, but you’d have to say that he got the raw deal on that one.
i agree 2girls1cup. I cant stand Frank Mir, for a start why is he getting a title shot, c’mon he fought a newby to the sport and just about managed to sink in an ankle lock that is not worth a title shot! I hope Nog destroys him. I’d much rather be on Nog’s team, specialist karate coach (machida), muay thai (silva and jui jitsu (nog). WOW!!
KOuch
usa v brazil, thats a class idea!
if anyone thinks that mir’s assistant, drysdale, isn’t bringing anything to the table is wrong! to win the abu dabi 2007 submission championship is a HUGE title! almost every big time fighter has tried… and failed!
I don’t think anyone is say that, but more impressed with the other teams credentials…
Mir is getting a title shot because he was the former champ and there is no one else in that division that has drawing power. Half of the hw division are new comers and/or one shot wonders. They fight once and then leave. Alot of the good heavy weights have left to fight elsewhere.
This could be the best season yet if they stay in a technique mode only. Also someone teach Machida the phrase”Do as I say not as I do…”
The ONLY person here who ISN’T Brazilian IS Mir. Both of his coaches are Brazilian. I personally know conditioning coach Rafael Alejarra and he is one of the best in the sport. He trains Wanderlei Silva and has for a while. He is no joke. So it should be a good season..
Why is everyone talking about Machida? The chance to train with Anderson Silva and Nogueira is something I would give my left nut for. I don’t care if the third coach is Hulk Hogan.
I feel bad for Team Mir. Going on to the show will anyone even want to train with that team?
team
Just because Silva and nog and them are good fighters does not mean they are good coaches. Nog has heart and determination and that can’t be taught. I think Mirs staff is just as good if not better because they actually coach.
Oakleys, do your homework, Nog is an amazing coach, him and his brother have their own style of jiu jitsu, he is a better coach than a fighter I say… both silva and Nog are coaches, u can find coaching videos on the internet from both of them… and machida is a double black belt, so yeh, Id have to say the brazillian team is stacked. wouldnt want to be on mir’s team
