Paul Daley To Headline CWFC “Enter the Rough House 7″ On July 12th
British welterweight Paul “Semtex” Daley (17-6-2), who abruptly retired in March for personal reasons, will come out of the brief retirement to headline Cage Warriors Fighting Championships “Enter the Rough House 7″ July 12th in Nottingham, England according to Sherdog.
His opponent for the main event bout is Bojan Kosednar (6-0).
Here’s a quote from Daley from the report:
“He’s an undefeated fighter, a champion of Italy and he has fought some tough guys. He looks like a big strong southpaw, but I have an excellent record against lefties. His game looks pretty well rounded and he must be really confident to come to my hometown to fight. I guess it’s going to be a tough fight and a grueling match before I knock him out.
I plan to fight as much as possible in the second half of the year. I want to continue to establish myself in the U.S. I have three fights left with EliteXC and then we’ll see. They’re really good to me there. I want to fight for the EliteXC welterweight title and defend my Cage Rage world belt three more times to win that out, just like I have done with the Cage Rage British title.
I’ll also continue to travel and train in the U.S., hopefully hooking up with Brandon Vera this summer to train and then in Holland in late September. It’s been a hard year for me so far for with ups and downs in my personal life. I’m focused and solid again now though. I’m back with Team Rough House training my ass off and climbing back up that mountain.”
Daley has won his last five straight bouts, all via first or second round stoppage. He most recently defeated Sam Morgan via first-round TKO at a January ShoXC event.

If Daley succeeds in what he intends to do collecting titles and dominating WW divisions in different promotions, he will still have to eventually make his way to the UFC to prove he is the best. Why do all the Elite XC fighters say, “I like Elite XC they are very good to me,” in every f-n interview? Is it part of their contracts? Daley sounds like he could be something special but he still has a way to go in bigger promotions fighting more high caliber fighters.
all the Elite XC fighters say, “I like Elite XC they are very good to me,†Elite XC= MMA’s Manchurian Candidate
I KOuch love MMAFRENZY, they are very good to me.
KOuch now go eat your noodles and take your nodoz like Denzel and Sinatra…
Daley is on the rise! He is a really good fighter…his stand up is top notch!
Jai,
Just curious since you are more familiar with Daley…..which fighter’s style would you compare him to? If he were to fight at the next UFC event who do you think would be a good match for him? I’m curious because I am not very familiar with Daley. He sounds very good but I read/hear about guys all the time who will make an impact in MMA and the ride off into the sunset a week later.
LOL!!
KOuch,
You last post was pretty funny about guys being making an impact and then riding off into the sunset a week later….and I totally understand what you’re saying. I guess that’s what makes MMA so unpredictable in that a guy could be on a hot streak, but then gets beat unexpectingly. I guess that’s the nature of the beast, huh.
To answer your question, Paul Daley is a kickboxer, but it’s more of a European or Dutch style. Style wise, I guess he kinda reminds me of a smaller versions of Bisping or Kampmann from the UFC, but with more explosion because he shorter and more compact (in my opinion). Also in my humble opinion, he would match up pretty well with Thiago Alves. Being that Alves walks around well over 190 so to be honest, Alves would probably be bigger, and probably more physical, but Daley really excels in the stand up game so I think it would be a pretty good match up. Other than the obvious advantages Thiago has that I previously mentioned, it would be a tough one for me to call.
It will be interesting to see how he perfoms in his next fight being that he is coming off a pretty good lay off as well as some personal problems. He may have a little ring rust and maybe a little gun shy at first, but I expect him to win this one.
BREAKING NEWS:
I just read on Fightline.com that the UFC has signed the #1 P4P Boxer in the world, Floyd Money Mayweather AKA Pretty Boy to a figting contract. Not only am I a big fan of MMA, I am also a big fan of Boxing and I read on Maxboxing.com last Friday, Mayweather just recently officially retired from boxing on last Friday. If the reports of Mayweather signing with UFC are true, It makes since now, why Dana White says he has some news that would rock the MMA World! THIS IS HUGE!!!
We need that announcement from Dana White now. My dream in life would be to work with Zuffa and leak this stuff out.:)
I told you guys…..the announcement is midgets and dwarfs coming to MMA. Next is blind people but that won’t be for about another 3 years.
Jai,
Thank you that was a very good description. Hopefully he makes his way to the UFC…..it seems his personal problems may make his fighting career inconistant and that will have to change.
from a sherdog post
group of investors led by Dana White have agreed in principle to purchase the UFC from Frank and Lorenzo Fertitta for an undisclosed amount. Included in this investment group is WWE’s Vince McMahon who will now own a minority stake in the company. They also have plans on taking the company public by years end.
At the press conference also expect Dana to announce that with the help of McMahon, who has extensive connections in the New York State Athletic Commission, they were able to get the UFC sanctioned in New York, and plan on having a show sometime in the winter at Madison Square Garden. That is all I have right now.
Great post Dietrich! Thanks for the information!
Not really sure if it’s a good thing to have Vince involved with UFC though. He’s so controlling. He may want to get to involved instead of letting Dana run it himself. Dietrich may be on to something here, because Dana has made it known that he has a big anouncement on Thursday, and so has the WWE. I guess we will see soon enough. I just hope i’m not getting my hopes up for nothing and then the annoucement turns out to be lame.
