An EliteXC “ShoXC” event scheduled for June 27th at the Sycuan Resort in San Diego, California has been postponed after the promotion was unable to secure the venue for the event.
Five Ounces of Pain reported the postponement on Friday, adding that EliteXC officials are likely looking to re-schedule the event.
The rumored fight card included EliteXC newcomer Cyrille Diabate taking on Jaime Fletcher, a King of the Cage middleweight championship bout pitting champion Keith Berry against challenger Reggie Orr, and the EliteXC debut of Hector Lombard.

I could only wish Elite XC more problems. My high hopes are Gary the know it all Shaw really f’s up and has to sell or be partially bought out. I doubt that will happen. In a perfect world, Elite XC would go bankrupt leaving all their fighters as free agents to sign with other promotions while Kimbo would go back to fighting in Florida backyards. What a dirty promotion.
Another quick thing in regards to Elite XC.
If Dana’s announcement for the UFC is a deal with Fox or HBO, imagine how $h!tty Gary Shaw will feel when the current top dog promotion in MMA has a better network deal with superior fighters. Even though Gay Shaw thinks his fighters are UFC quality…that is besides the point. I just want the announcement to make Shaw crap his pants in dismay and pain.
If it’s Fox what will Shaw do……
)
Imagine how ****ty Gary will feel if this big announcement involves PBF (unlikely i know)
What will Gary do then ?
Wheel out Ali to fight Kimbo ?
(Ali by ko in the 1st BTW
Kimbo doesn’t even deserve Ali in Ali’s current physical and mental state. In any case I disagree with your prediction. I say Ali let’s Kimbo rope a dope himself until he accidently punches himself into unconciousness. Gary will be fine for a while but he has proven he does not understand or know MMA the way a lot of fans do. I said it before, those of us discussing MMA here are among the “hardcore” fans and we seem to see right through Shaw. We don’ talk about Shaw’s Elite XC as a MMA event….we call it a circus or freak show. Shaw is in it for the money and running his business just like a boxing promotion.(crooked and corrupt) Shaw mentioned having Sheilds vs GSP….LOL what a joker begging to be accepted! The guy is an opportunist looking to make a quick buck. Dana has stated that he uses boxing as a good/bad example of what not to do and the UFC has a different business model than boxing to help build up the sport. Shaw does not care about the future of the sport or it’s fighters. F Gary Shaw!
ive neve seen a elite xc event but they sound like a joke to me, not secureing the even that is a school boy error in my books, nobody can compete with the ufc! this site should go back to only ufc news, i dont think ive read a postive comment about anything non ufc!
Gary Shaw……….. well you did it again.. way to make Elite look like they dont know what you’ll are doing. It serves him right , I love seeing things happen to him “Life is Good”
The CBS event was obviously horrible for true fans. It can only get better. However, Gary Shaw has stated, “for MMA to explode, really explode, you don’t just have a UFC champion or a Pride or a K-1 champion, but you have to have a true world champion.” Dana will never let that happen. Gary puts fighters first. (i.e Kimbo on cover of ESPN, Dana on cover of Men’s Fitness) The World Fighting Organization (WFO), mixed martial art’s first world recognized independent sanctioning body, has agreed to work with all MMA promoters. With so many fighters leaving UFC, we can only hope to see them soon on Elite XC, Affliction, etc.
What??? Chuck was on the cover of ESPN when Kimbo was washing windows on street corners with toilet paper! Who would hope to see UFC fighters in elite xc? We already saw 2 last show, and they didn’t get to finish the match because a poke in the dang eye!
MGonzalez,
I am not understanding if you like Elite XC and Gary Shaw but you need to know one thing. Gary Shaw does not know the first thing about MMA. NOTHING NADA ZILCH ZERO! Gary is a money hungry promoter from the world of boxing. One of boxing’s biggest issues is so many titles and different promotions. Gary retard Shaw is suggessting turning MMA events into co-promoted events like boxing has done. Dana has stated no one knows the business of MMA like he does and he uses a different business model than boxing. Not only did Dana turn the UFC into a billion dollar company, he took MMA and blew it up to make it the fastest rising sport in the country and many parts of the world. Without Dana we would not be here right now talking MMA. Gary Shaw is a douche and I can only hope he has a heart attack before tainting the views of those who still do not understand the sport of MMA. Gary Shaw doesn’t know what he’s talking about…..the idiot is shoving Kimbo Slice down the throat of America as a monster in the world of MMA.
For those of you haven’t seen an EliteXC event, please do not allow of the negative comments and posts that are put on here to deter from watching one of their events. The promotion has some really great fighters working for them and they put together some exciting fights. Even the CBS Show had some really exciting fights on it. The only problem I have with the company is the way it is ran. The powers that be for some reason feels the need to use a lot of silly little gimmicks like dancers and rappers and fireworks and stuff like that on their shows. It kind of reminds me more of a WWE wrestling event (more like the old WCW Nitro show to be exact). But as far as the fighters are concerned, the do have some really good fighters.
I know people are laughing at the proposed match up between GSP-vs-Jake Shields, but that only leads me to believe that those individuals that are scoffing at the idea aren’t real familiar with Jake Shields as a fighter. Shields is a major MMA talent and is a Chuck Liddell under study. He has exellent skills and is the current EliteXC WW Champ (170). I know Dana White may call the proposed fight a joke, but he knows Jake Shields is no joke. Don’t be surprised that UFC tries to pick Shields up when his contract runs out with Elite. Now I’m not necessarily saying that Shields would be GSP, but I am saying that would be a very intriging match up.
Alot of people on here are UFC fans and not MMA fans. They think if a fighter doesn’t work for the UFC they aren’t good fighters. This couldn’t be futher from the truth. UFC doesn’t have ALL the best fighters….they have their fair share of them, but not ALL of them. Here are some other really good fighters that currently fight in EliteXC:
KJ Noons – EliteXC’s 155 (LW) Champ. He is a rising star!
Mike Pyle – A Randy Couture under study and fights at 170 (WW). Pyle actually holds a win over Jon Fitch who is scheduled to face GSP for the UFC WW Title in August. Jake Shields beat Mike Pyle in his last fight to win the EliteXC’s WW Title in a tremendous fight.
Paul Daley – Recently joined EliteXC and is the current Cage Rage WW Champ (170) and fights in both promotions. Please don’t laugh because he’s a champ in Cage Rage, because Andersen Silva was the MW Champ (185) in Cage Rage prior to joining UFC. Paul Daley is on the rise!
Eddie Alvarez – Can fight at 155 (LW) and 170 (WW). Also fights for Dream. He maybe the best kept secret in all of MMA.
Antonio Silva – Better known as “Big Foot”….Fights in the HW division and is an well rounded fighter. Although he’s not well known at this point, he is clearly the best fighter Elite has in their HW division.
Gina Carrano – Is on the verge of superstardom. She is basically the Laila Ali of MMA.
Robbie Lawler – Former UFC fighter and current EliteXC MW Champion (185). He was also the ICON Sports MW Champ before ICON stripped him of the title due to inactivity. His fighting schedule coupled with some injuries prevented Lawler from defending the ICON MW Title in a timely manner so ICON decided to strip him. Has grown alot as a fighter since his time in the UFC. He was basically one dimentional when he was in the UFC but is now more well rounded and his at the top of his game as an MMA fighter.
Kala Hose – Fights at 185 (MW) and has some really heavy hands and is very strong. Kinda short (5′8) for the 185 division though.
I did hear that Elite was in some financial troubles. It will be interesting to see how long this company is around for. They have some really good fighters. It wouldn’t surprise me to see the UFC buy this company out just to scoop up the talent they have.
….and trust me, they would not cut Kimbo Slice!
Kimbo has too much heat on him now not to keep him if the UFC were to buy XC but it would only be for 2 fights as they would have to feed him tough competition day one. It would be a Leon Spinks type rise and fall.
Don’t be surprised if Kimbo upset some of those guys you consider to be “tough” competition. If they stand up with him, he’s got a chance! Hopefully by then, if it ever happens, Kimbo would have developed a ground game.
Any given day anyone can win. I am 6′6′ 300 and if I saw Kimbo coming at me I would hit him with my car. He still has raw power no doubt.
Wow what a surprise… a few more comments on how kimbo should ‘go back to the streets.’ Simply ridiculous. JAI may seem like he works for EliteXC with some of his comments, but he is correct in almost everything he says (I don’t agree with Antonio Silva…he’s disappointing). Until all of you begin supporting an MMA career for Kimbo (whether you like him or not), you can’t call yourselves true MMA fans…because his cinderella story IS LEGIT. How do you think this sport started? It started with stories like Kimbo’s + Martial Arts gyms wanting to compete with each other. I’d say at least 10% of MMA fighters were once kids in school or on the streets who got into fights and happened to be good at them. I know from watching TAPOUT that it seems like almost every single one has that story!
STOP HATING ON KIMBO. KOuch, I thought you knew better than that…i’ve enjoyed your comments for quite sometime on this site until now.
And yes, I’m beginning to sound like a broken record… why? Because all of YOU are sounding like a broken record… get over it already… EliteXC is most likely here to stay.
Jai,
Your Elite XC posts was very good. I agree completely. You just have to remember Gary Shaw is a boxing promoter who knows nothing about MMA and promotes MMA in the same disgusting fashion he did boxing only now it seems he threw in a little WWE with the rappers and dancers as you mentioned. So what we have is, a MMA promotion run by a boxing promoter with a fetish for the WWE.
Rappers and Dancers????? I mean have ANY OF YOU SEEN PRIDE??? DREAM???? K1????? They all have idiotic ceremonies they go through. Having rappers and dancers does NOT make it WWE. That statement is ridiculous.
We watch MMA to be entertained… and guess what… the fights are what entertain US…but what about the others who aren’t quite as into it as we want them to be? That’s what the dancers, etc pander to…to help grow the sport. PRIDE & K1’s opening ceremonies are many THOUSAND times more ridiculous that the EliteXCs just was.
Please people…put things into perspective. I do NOT like having to sound like an EliteXC cheerleader…they are nowhere near perfect.
DannyBoy,
I’m not bashing Elite bruh. As I said, they put on some great fights and have great fighters. I just wished they leave out some of the other theatrics in their show production. That’s all I’m saying!
BREAKING NEWS:
I just read on Fightline.com that the UFC has signed the #1 P4P Boxer in the world, Floyd Money Mayweather AKA Pretty Boy to a figting contract. Not only am I a big fan of MMA, I am also a big fan of Boxing and I read on Maxboxing.com last Friday, Mayweather just recently officially retired from boxing on last Friday. If the reports of Mayweather signing with UFC are true, It makes since now, why Dana White says he has some news that would rock the MMA World! THIS IS HUGE!!!
JAI buddy… I was commenting on KOuch’s post not yours. Your post I agree with completely.
Seems you and I are the only one’s know like Kimbo for his spirit and humbleness rather than looking at what his promoters have done.
from a sherdog post
group of investors led by Dana White have agreed in principle to purchase the UFC from Frank and Lorenzo Fertitta for an undisclosed amount. Included in this investment group is WWE’s Vince McMahon who will now own a minority stake in the company. They also have plans on taking the company public by years end.
At the press conference also expect Dana to announce that with the help of McMahon, who has extensive connections in the New York State Athletic Commission, they were able to get the UFC sanctioned in New York, and plan on having a show sometime in the winter at Madison Square Garden. That is all I have right now.
