UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar is expected to defend his title at the UFC’s return to Japan on Feb. 25 against the winner of tomorrow’s UFC on Fox co-main event between Clay Guida and Ben Henderson, according to MMAjunkie.
Edgar (14-1-1) overcame another slow start to knockout challenger Gray Maynard in their third meeting last month at UFC 136 after the pair fought to a draw in January. Edgar previously defended the 155-pound belt over BJ Penn in August 2010 after claiming the title from Penn in April of last year.
Guida (29-11) has won four-straight since back-to-back losses to Diego Sanchez and Kenny Florian in 2009, including a June win over WEC champ Anthony Pettis, while Henderson (14-2), another former WEC champ, has scored UFC wins over Mark Bocek and Jim Miller since falling to Pettis in December.
The event, which is likely to be UFC 144, takes place in the morning on Feb. 26 in Saitama, Japan in order to to air live in the UFC’s regular Saturday night pay-per-view slot in the U.S.
