Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson, fresh off his controversial stoppage of James Thompson at EliteXC “Primetime” this Saturday, will return to the cage in October to face Brett Rogers, who is also coming off of a “Primetime” win, his over Jon Murphy.
Slice and Rogers engaged in a minor altercation and shouting match during the post-event press conference after Rogers called Kimbo out, stating that his main event performance was “garbage”.
The fall matchup was reported late yesterday by Fanhouse, citing an appearace by Slice on Dan LeBatard’s radio show in which he revealed he’d next face Rogers “likely in October”.
The bout is expected to be featured on EliteXC’s next CBS show, which will also reportedly feature a middleweight title fight rematch from “Primetime” between champion Robbie Lawler and challenger Scott Smith after the bout was ruled a no contest the first time around due to an accidental poke in the eye by Lawler.

While Brett Rogers has not proven to be the most skilled mixed martial artist, he definitely has the upper hand as far as fighting skill goes. Gary Shaw the King of Corruption will do all he can to keep Kimbo undefeated meaning Rogers better knock out Kimbo. I don’t think the judges will be scoring in favor of Rogers if Gary Shaw has anything to say. I would love to see Kimbo knocked unconcious but not Rogers to become the “next big thing” because of it.

Once again the fans of MMA show their ill will towards a fighter who has never claimed to be “the next big thing.” I’ll say it again… all of you hating on Kimbo are not the true MMA fans you think you are. You are pathetic and undeserving of a MMA opinion.
Kimbo is fighting whoever Shaw puts in front of him…he knows he isn’t as skilled as he should be and he’s making the most with what he has. He has been humbled by MMA tremendously and I genuinly love his courage to continue in a sport he’s not that good at yet. Those of you who have the absolute GALL to blame KIMBO for his position are complete idiots.

YZFOXRACING I do not believe Kimbo is a joke because he has Bas Rutten in his corner. Bas Rutten is most certainly NOT a joke. He’s an extremely talented fighter turned coach. Whether Kimbo loses this fight or not I will have respect for him for trying to become a better MMA fighter. You guys put too much on Kimbo and forget that even Matt Hughes was 4-1, BJ Penn was 3-1, Randy Couture was 4-2 at one time with nowhere near the skillset they have now.
Whether you guys like it or not… Kimbo is an underdog…and there’s nothing wrong with rooting for the underdog. He may not be BILLED that way… but he is and always has been. The fact that even HE admits it…shows he’s not the person you all think he is.
Bas Rutten would not work with someone he didn’t like…and if he likes him…I like him…
Whether he wins or not this next fight he WILL get better and continue in MMA.

Dannyboy, I agree 100% percent. You just said basically the samething I have been saying and have posted on every major MMA Furom since Kimbo fought Tank.
Everyone should give the guy a break. He’s only doing the fighting, not the promoting. If you want to blame someone for creating all this hype, blame Gary Shaw and Elite. Gary is the one through out all these acclaids and phrases like “Kimbo’s the Micheal Jordan of MMA”….”Kimbo is the best striker in all of MMA” and all this other stuff. I realize that Gary is just trying to make as much money as possible off of Kimbo while he can, so he’s going to say whatever he has to say at this point because if Kimbo looses (depending on who he loosed to) the money train will come to a halt. But everyone keeps getting angry with Kimbo, and he hasn’t done anything wrong! Kimbo is always humble in his interview and always has been since his very first interview back on ESPN’s E:60 show.
You know what though, everyone (including Dana White) jumps all over Kimbo’s case but no one (including Dana White) says anything about Brock Lesnar and all the crap he talked going into his fight with Frank Mir when he hadn’t and still hasn’t accomplish anymore than Kimbo has in this sport….nor did anyone (including Dana White) say anything about how much hype and promotion he received going into that fight when he hadn’t done anything in this sport. He came right in the UFC in only his 2nd MMA fight after he fought his first fight against the same type caliber opponent that Kimbo has fought and he gets “top billing”/ main event spot on a major PPV event for the LARGEST MMA promotion IN THE WORLD. Not only that, but he gets paid WAY more than all the other UFC HWs has ever been paid (except maybe Couture including Tim Sylvia who is a two time UFC HW Champ (which is a huge part of the reason Tim left), in only his second fight when he hasn’t even proved anything in this sport yet. I don’t hear anyone raising cain about that (including Dana White). Now I don’t agree with it, but the way I see it, Gary is only doing with Kimbo what Dana did with Brock and that’s taking advantage of fan base the respective fighters already had (Kimbo’s internet fans and Brock’s WWE fans). I will admit, Shaw is going more to the extreme than Dana did, but good or bad, it is what it is – business!
If Kimbo was in the UFC, no one would be saying anything because people aren’t MMA fans, they are UFC fans (biased).
Its not about the promotion its about the event. If he generates bad press fine its still free pr and we are all grown up enough to know it. But that fight was a fixed fight. CBS does countless live events every year and that pull away from the action in the middle of the fight was done for a reason. Probably a hundred million reasons. Mistakes do not happen like that generally. But lets say forgive one. Then what about the ear? No board certified doctor would clear that crap. But lest forgive that too. Then you have the restart… No reason for it…The only really covered issue from the fight was the Hulkamania thumbs up/tap pseudo issue. People are being sold Pro wrestling as MMA and it pisses me off because I have been around along time defending the sport in my world and I am tired of it. Give us a legit fight with Bobby Hoffman or Severn Catalfo orsomeone past their prime if you want him to earn his rep. Its more along the lines of the old UFC in that you have to lose to win.

Dietrich, again, is it Kimbo’s fault that the fighter got stopped early, or that it didn’t get stopped when he was getting grounded and pounded or that the camera went into the crowd in the middle of the fight, and if the fight was fixed, how in the world can you blame Kimbo. Again, blame Gary Shaw, Elite and CBS for all the crap that went on. The only thing Kimbo was could control was trying his best to find a way to win the fight. Again, if Kimbo was the UFC, there would be as many upset people.
YZFOXRACING, Kimbo didn’t come in the sport with a big head. He came in saying I love fighting and MMA is the closest thing to the real thing and I want learn the sport and become good at it. As far as Kimbo talking crap to Chuck, he was only defending himself because he felt that Chuck had talked crap about him first (which he did). That’s human nature to stand up for yourself. Kimbo is a good draw to make money for the promoter.but get real .he is a one dementional fighter .with no cardio.teach him real fighting skills if he can learn then bring him back,to the MMA.otherwise he will go down and away and he willbe forgotten.its not fare to kimbo.he seams to be a great guy ,who could possibly have a good future in the MMA.but still needs to learn more and I beieve he knows this himself.his level of skill needs to improve.because the opposition will have a higher skill level.for real MMA fighters have much more experience and soon will take out Kimbo.

I don’t think I put the entire responsibilty of last Saturday Night At Kimbo’s feet.I do believe that it will be hard for him to look in the mirror in the future though. If it was a legit fight I think he should man up and admit he got beat.We have seen that in the UFC and XC should try to uphold that standard. Its that little bit of respect between the fighters that we want, a little nobility. Its gone in every other sport and when it goes here its going to be a really sad day.
I see last saturday as just another example of Institutional Economics at work and Kimbo (the brand) was protected at the risk of the entire sport.Bas Rutten has been trying to sell us on the notion that this man is trying hard and is disciplined and we should respect him and you know what I gave the man the benefit of the doubt. We all tuned in for a legit fight between two men and we were fooled. We got hit with a bait and switch and our “sporting event” was little more than another “soap story serial” that we will see resolved around a ppv. I wont waste my time with XC again and I hope others avoid them as well but it is their choice.

group of investors led by Dana White have agreed in principle to purchase the UFC from Frank and Lorenzo Fertitta for an undisclosed amount. Included in this investment group is WWE’s Vince McMahon who will now own a minority stake in the company. They also have plans on taking the company public by years end.
At the press conference also expect Dana to announce that with the help of McMahon, who has extensive connections in the New York State Athletic Commission, they were able to get the UFC sanctioned in New York, and plan on having a show sometime in the winter at Madison Square Garden. That is all I have right now.
Ok, for starters I know Brett Rodgers doesn’t look as physically imposing as Kimbo Slice but he did have the power to know James Thompson out cold in the first round of their fight. Kimbo’s fight with Thompson looked completely fixed. I know MMA doesn’t always boil down this way. Just because one guy beat a guy that another had trouble with does it mean that Brett Rodgers will destroy Kimbo Slice. Though this does lead me to an interesting point…If Brett Rodgers made such short work of Thompson the obvious thing in my book would be to have an immediate fight between Rodgers and Slice which furthermore leads me to believe that EliteXC is treating Kimbo like a baby that gets to handpick his opponents and that just makes me sick…Kimbo you cannot beat a top level MMA fighter…Your A Bum!
your all a bunch of poofs , that fight wasnt fixed for fucks sake , James thompson was more cross eyed than a blind retard when they stopped the fight. they could have let it go one more punch or so but then it woulda just been a more devastating stoppage. Yes it could have been stopped when kimbo was on his back up against the cage gettin elbowed but then we see kimbo get up unhurt at the end of the round meaning the decision to let it continue was a good one. And by the way the judges had Thompson winning so if it was fixed dont you think they would have had kimbo winning or at least even cos that first round coulda gone either way and the second started off as kimbos then finished definately thompsons. Also there was no tap for any dickhead thinkin that he tapped, he clearly gives the thumbs up , plus do you really think kimbo (who if nothing else has proved hes a tough cunt in that bare nuckle blues) , would tap standing up in that pathetic choke. Even i might not have tapped from that.
Dana is as bad as them all. Hes just blessed now that he has the biggest organization with the best talent out there, so he doesnt need to promote lesser fighters that are big names as much as the smaller promoters do. Kimbo has put a beating to everyone that has stepped up and people still give him no credit. He has been training 1/4 of the time as the rest of these fighters and still comes out on top. Now after 6 months of training im sure his ground technique has much improved. If Brett Rodgers tries to go toe to toe with Kimbo its going to be a very short fight. Kimbo will pop Rodgers head just like Thompsons ear and he will be ass down on the mat.
