Sokoudjou Wants To Fight “Shogun”
“I would love to fight that guy. I’ve tried to fight him ever since I fought in PRIDE and he’s been ducking me. Shogun has been ducking me since the PRIDE days. Shogun’s camp told me that to fight him, I had to fight Cyborg first. I told them I want to fight Shogun, not Cyborg, and then Pride went away and now he’s in the UFC and he hasn’t fought for a minute. I know he got injured for his last fight, but I think by the time I’m ready to fight again, hopefully he should be ready and will take the fight.
Good luck to him trying to get me to the ground. I got my ass kicked once on the ground so you think I just went home and didn’t do anything on the ground? I spent hours and hours fighting off of my back.”
– UFC Light Heavyweight Rameau Sokoudjou tells FightHype.com of his wish to fight Mauricio “Shogun” Rua once Rua returns from a knee injury. “Shogun”, however, is expected to face Chuck Liddell once both are back in fighting shape.

no way sokoujdou wins this one. may be in 1-2 years when he has more experience than it would be an interesting encounter.
I would like to see Shogun/Sokoudjou that would open chuck up to fight for the title against the winner of Forest/Rampage since he had a good one over Silva and looked in better shape, let’s not forget Chuck isn’t getting any younger and I’m sure the UFC would like to see Chuck fight for or hold the title one more time before he walks away.
Shogun-Sokudjuo is a good match up, but I think I would rather see Liddel-Shogun. I think it’s the best thing to do to put to big name elite level fighters against each other when their both coming off injuries. Besides, everyone mouths were watering when that fight was originally annouced. Even though they threw Evans in the mix, No one really wanted to see Chuck fight anyone else but Shogun and I think that fight should happen when both guys come back.
They can’t put Liddel up for a title shot like that. Just doesn’t seem fair…he should have to at least win one more fight against a big name to warrant another title shot. Well, with that said, I could see them giving him the shot if Forrest defeats Rampage. I could definitely see them making Griffin-vs-Liddel for the title. It would be the easiest fight to promote being that Forrest would be the very first TUF alumni to win a title coupled with the fact that Liddel actually coached Forrest on the very first season of TUF. However, if Rampage wins, they can’t give Chuck the title shot. If Rampage wins, I think the person that deserve the title shot would be Lyota “The Dragon” Machida who is probably THE most dangerous man at 205lbs. Jackson-vs-Machida
As far as who would I’d like to see Sokoudjou face, it would have to be Thiago Silva. Silva has looked like a monster of late and it’s time to give him a ‘name” fighter and a big test. T. Silva-vs-Sokoudjou would be a straight up WAR!!!
I agree they can’t just throw Chuck in a title fight but it’s Chuck and he is Dana’s boy not to mention he has a history of setting viewing records for the UFC. Machida/Jackson would be a nice fight, i don’t think people realize how strong Machida is. What about Machida/Chuck or Thiago/Chuck with the winner getting a title shot. The timing works out well as far as the dates of the events.
This one is worth the trouble of airport security in Vegas.
