Nice video, that’s the first interview I’ve seen from my boy Nick since he’s been in the UFC. I think Meathead takes this one by TKO or UD by being the quicker more agile fighter, he’s pretty light on his feet for a big guy.

I think Condit will present a few problems for Georges early on with his aggressiveness. He’s not afraid to throw a flying knee at you or fully commit to his strikes because he’s not afraid to fight off of his back. Georges will stick with his wrestling in this one and grind out a UD while trying for submissions if the opportunities present themselves.

I’d like to see it stay standing because both have good stand up with Carlos’ being more unpredictable. But still, GSP is one of the best p4p kickboxers in MMA and can probably hang with anything Carlos can throw at him….except his power.

As for Penn/Diaz, I say Nick takes this fight by UD or TKO. Penn will gas as always and Nick IMO is the better pressure boxer and volume puncher. No matter the outcome B.J. is right, this fight is the real main event. Can’t wait.

I hate to be a wet blanket here, but Condit trains with GSP, or at least he did occasionally under the Greg Jackson mega-camp structure.
That means GSP views Condit positively, and historically that means we’re probably going to get what some fans will consider a GSP win by “yawnanimous” decision, as the champ isn’t really motivated to hurt his opponent.
GSP only finishes people that truly offend him with either their words or actions [or both], and I haven’t seen/heard Condit do anything but present confidentally but respectfully towards GSP.

As for the undercard, Nick Diaz has another golden ticket here, regardless of whether or not some fans think he’s earned one or not.
I’m not sure how motivated Penn is to win this fight, and while he has the physical abilities and MMA skills to win, its always his head and his heart and his suspect cardio that fail him.
Against Diaz thats no bueno, especially because Diaz has a LOT more to prove right now in the UFC than Penn does.
If BJ Penn never wins another Octagonal fight he’s going into the UFC Hall of Fame, and upon his retirement and fulltime dedication to his gym it will become one of the better MMA camps to train at in North American in 5 years time.
    Maybe less.
Diaz on the other hand has a long road ahead of him to get to the top.
Sure, he’s got small show cred, but thats not the same thing as winning consistently in the UFC, and Diaz knows it.
Even Cesar Gracie has said as much in recent interviews, which is why campmate Gilbert Melendez is 24/7 banging on the UFC’s door.
Diaz beats Penn and he gets a title shot, most likely against GSP.
Not sure if thats a great reward for beating a 2 time/2 weightclass MMA icon like Penn, but thats life in the UFC.
    ;-)
