UFC 136 Prelims on Spike TV Draw Low 1 Million Viewers

This past Satuday’s UFC 136 Prelims special on Spike TV averaged just 1 million viewers from 8-9pm ET immediately before the UFC 136 pay-per-view, setting a new low for the series on Spike.

The special featured former middleweight challenger Demian Maia vs. Jorge Santiago and ex-WEC champ Anthony Pettis vs. Jeremy Stephens, but the fights turned out to be far from action-packed.

Last month’s UFC 135 Prelims special, featuring Tim Boetsch vs. Nick Ring and Aaron Riley vs. Tony Ferguson, drew 1.6 million viewers.

UFC 136’s stacked main card delivered, with UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar coming back (again) to knockout Gray Maynard and featherweight champ Jose Aldo topping Kenny Florian. The event also saw middleweight contender Chael Sonnen submit Brian Stann, Nam Phan avenge his controversial loss to Leonard Garcia, and Joe Lauzon stun lightweight contender Melvin Guillard.

The question now is whether UFC 136 disappointed in pay-per-view buys too.
