Alexander-Schafer, Herman-Belcher, Neer Rumored For UFC Fight Night 15
Houston Alexander will take on Eric Schafer in a light heavyweight bout and Ed Herman will tangle with Alan Belcher in a middleweight fight at UFC Fight Night 15. Duke Roufus announced the matchups in a recent post at Wisonsin Combat Sports.
UFC Fight Night 15 takes place on September 17th at a location and venue to-be-announced. The Spike TV broadcast of the event’s main card will serve as the lead-in for the debut episode of The Ultimate Fighter 8.
Houston Alexander (8-3) has lost back-to-back first-round TKO losses to Thiago Silva and James Irvin. Prior to the losses, Alexander posted first-round knockout wins over Keith Jardine and Alessio Sakare. Schafer (7-3-2) is also coming off back-to-back losses inside the octagon to Michael Bisping and Stephan Bonnar. He had won four straight bouts, including a UFC win over Rob MacDonald, before to the losses.
Ed Herman (14-5) was a contestant on The Ultimate Fighter 3, winning his way into the final round before losing to Kendall Grove. After dropping his second UFC bout to Jason MacDonald, Herman won three-straight fights against Chris Price, Scott Smith, and Joe Doerksen. He was defeated by Demian Maia at UFC 83 in April. Belcher (11-4) opened his UFC career with a 1-2 mark that included a victory over Jorge Santiago and losses to Yushin Okami and Kendall Grove. After quickly dispatching Sean Salmon and Kalib Starnes Belcher was again on the rise in the middleweight division but was defeated by Jason Day via first-round TKO at UFC 83.
Additionally, “The Dentist” Josh Neer (21-6-1) will also reportedly fight at the event against an opponent to-be-determined, according to MMA Junkie. Neer, who holds UFC wins over Joe Stevenson and Melvin Guillard, left the UFC in 2006 following back-to-back losses to Josh Burkman and Nick Diaz. After going 6-1 outside the octagon he returned to the promotion in April, defeating Din Thomas via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 13.

hopefully houston will pull thru this time and not get owned
Houston is a likeable guy but I think he needs a stint in the WEC to work on his skills..
Another loss and he’s in the WEC for sure. He’d be a solid draw there and a good edition, possibly even a future opponent for Stann. There were rumors of the WEC eliminating the higher classes but I think he’s decently marketable and the UFC is likely going to give him time and opponents that allow him to fully develop.
