The UFC has what, 500 fighters under contract, and THIS is the best card they can muster? Give me a break.
I like the Davis/Swick fight, and the Vera fight, but this better be fee otherwise i’m waiting until unleashed.
Guys this is ridiculous, ive been coming to all the ufc events held in the uk and not really complained as ive had a fantastic time.
Also I never post anything on any website to say to the contrary.
But this time I feel I must, I got to agree with ‘huggies’, just look at al the events before and after the 85 show, this card is weak.
Something needs to be done, I don’t know if it’s the fighter’s lack of wanting to travel or something, but if the ufc wants to break into Europe (that’s if they haven’t already), they got to start putting on awesome shows like they do in the US.
Anyway just my opinion.
Does anybody want to buy two unwanted floor tickets to ufc85?
Well, at least Matt Hughes is fighting in it.
Hey guys remember now, this originally set up to be a super card. Liddel-Shogun….Liddel-Evans….Evans-Irvin….Bisping-Leben…Due to all the unforseen injuries and jail time (Leben). Now they’re throwing alot of guys in there that we’re not as familiar with so it makes the card seem sorry, but who knows, these fights may all be knockdown drag outs.
Stupid stupid stupid. Rashad Evans vs. Thiago Silva was one of the original bouts for UFC 85, and was a fight everyone wanted to see. Joe Silva could have pulled T. Silva from the Mendes fight and put him against Evans as the #2 fight on the card and sent Mendes packing instead of Evans. That would have been the smart move, and would have made the card significantly better than Evans/Irvin even. Whatever.
actually evans vs thiago was set for ufc 84… and liddell shogun was 85….once shogun got hurt they pulled rashad from 84 to 85….
either way…id be pissed if i was rashad!! Training for Thiago…then told he needs to train for Chuck…..then needs to train for Irvin, then Cane…then…go home, eat a cheeseburger..you’re not fighting….wtf….
I do agree with the comment about this better be free on spike…if not, I wont waste my money… I didnt buy the last one over there, penn vs stevenson….and this card is like that one… and i have no desire to see it…well, not a $50 desire atleast….i already wasted 50 on the rashad bisping card…..wont do that again!! I am buying this weekends card, should be great!
What are you folks moaning about? That is a stellar card, Matt Hughes, Bisping, Swick, Davis, Nate Marquardt, Werdum, Vera – I know I’m just repeating names from the fight card, but seriously, what the hell do you guys want!?
I’ve been to the last 3 UFC events and they were amazing. All out wars, KO’s, Subs – just awesome.
And saying the UFC has that many fighters is only half the battle. Not to mention, the loss of big Tim, Arlovski, Couture and soon to follow many more, and with injuries taking some of the top names – I think its an awesome card, regardless of losing top names like Liddell or Evans.
i would prefer to see the prelim fights! they are the much better card! i wont buy this one…
People are moaning bc it isnt a stellar card… Hughes is a big name…Alves is not…though he looked great in his last fight and definetly is an up and comer..but he isnt in that elite status yet…though a win over hughes could put him there….so that really doesnt make for a main event…hell i think werdum and vera is the main event…though its not like a nog vs sylvia or a courture vs anyone…they are middle of the road names….not TOP names…this card is ok.. mediocure…but not 1 fight makes you think WOW.. i cant wait…like most fights in this weekends card!! Sherk vs Penn..WOW…Wanderlie vs Jardine.. normally i wouldnt say wow, but since Jardine beat Liddell, this makes for a VERY intriquing fight…Thiago Silva is a WOW fighter in himself…and last but not least, Tito vs Machada….now thats a card!
i can only feel this card is dropping guys totally unrealistically. I am honestly woried about who will even turn up to fight. the tickets are priced much higher than the last o2 arena ufc, and the ufc seems to have pissed us about too much. I have been gutted by nearly all the bloody cancellations. this is just not good enough. i hear of other top fights well in advance, and maybe it’s just me, but they always sem to go ahead. My damn luck, my only time to the ufc, and a well messed and re-arranged card. mmmmmmmmmm i wonder who is next for the chop on the list? maybe i will take bets and the winnings can pay for my flippin ticket as it seems to me, personally, i feel dana should also throw another fight on. it was 13 fights at one stage wasn’t it?
and now they throw a prelim fight up to main card????
How about something free for the people who have already bought tickets, with the idea the card MAY be subject to change. This card has changed more times than I have had good craps.
from a UK fan, I cannot help but feel dissappointed. Why? too much messing about. I sincerely hope to bloody god that hughes ends up fighting cas there will be a flippin english riot otherwise, lol.
Ahh sod it, I say throw all the names on the card into a hat, and just pull out pairs to fight off, cos that’s how the fights have gone. too much swapping for my liking. This will certainly not go un-noticed for the next event. I don’t want to get excited and then the whole card pretty much get swapped. Sad that evans went down the ranks after liddell cancelled, vera and hughes are the best two now, followed by bisping ( who will fight Jason day, who is he for bisping without being rude) I would have thought there would be another popular guy than him for bisping.
Still, that’s the way it goes.
I just hope the burgers taste good at the O2 cos that will REALLy piss me off, lol
regards to Jason N, well said mate about this weekend’s card. That would be ace to see live.
I am pissed because I am going to the event. Promoting a fight from the pre-lims to the mian card makes no differnce for me.
This card sucks…I wanted to see Evenas KO’d
wow what a disappointment.
its just 1 bad thing after another what a load of crap crap crap
Shocking! I paid well over £130 for this event when the tickets first came on sale, at that point Liddel Shogun was going to be a stunning fight… Then a load of names got pulled and Dana White PROMISED the UK fans that he would replace the dropouts with guys of equal calibre, what???? Most of these guys are part-timers who don’t deserve my heard earned £130! Having said all that, it is quite possible that the Liddel fight would have been over in 17 seconds even if it had gone ahead, often the pre main event fights prove to be more entertaining than the top-of-the bill.
regarding adam’s comment, well mate, i agree with you totally. I was well pissed off as I paid over twice what I thought I was going to, and when chuck was listed I got a £125 ticket, now feela bit cheated cos they were alot cheaper to begin with last time at the o2, I can only assume that was down to chuck mainly, and i also agree he would have KO’d evens wuickly. BUt it would still have been worth my money to see the iceman. Dana promised, but has not delivered the equal quality. Don’t get me wrong, hughes is very good, but I would have liked to have seen a higher ranked guy maybe.
Ebay has lots of tickets for sale now for UFC 85, and they are not even fetching the flippin face value, i feel cheated somehow. I should have waited til now to buy my £125 seat for £75 or less.
Bummer.
I will possibly think again about the O2 again to begin with, or, maybe just buy a much cheaper seat and hope the list stays the same.
I just wanted to see rashad get his ass kicked!!
