another top contender getting a nobody, what happened when anyone else beat crocop? cmon joe silva…
let’s hope kongo keeps it standing this time, he is not a ground fighter, though he is improving. another boring fight and i can see him possibly getting released.
This is record padding at its most obvious. I would have liked to see Kongo vs. Gonzaga. Much better to see 2 guys who are coming off of losses go at it than feeding a nobody to some Frenchman w/ no ground game who lost to Heath Herring.
kongo dissapointed me his last fight…not taking anything away from herring he fought a good fight…but kongo didnt live up to my expections…i also would rather see kongo vs gonzaga
Thats why Kongo gets a nobody bc he fought like a nobody in his last fight….so until he can show us the Kongo from his fight vs Cro Cop, he doesnt deserve top treatment!! If he loses this fight, you can kiss Kongo goodbye!
I hope Kongo loses to this nobody and is given an immediate exit out of the UFC. Not that this matchup has any appeal whatsoever, but I think Kongo is a very poor MMA fighter, highly overrated.
dante, i agree completely. i liked him in his debut fight but since then he’s shown nothing in the way of improving his ground game. to be honest, i really don’t see him as that great a striker either, i hate to say it but he seems like an athletic looking tim sylvia. i think he got lucky that cro cop doesn’t like the cage plus he threw in a couple nut shots which didn’t help. and i’m also pretty sure he’s trained with bisping before which is the pinnacle of worthlessness in my book. xept for rampage, he’s still cool.
2girl, i think u nailed it on the head with your post. Kongo technically is not a very good fighter, outside of his size and strength, he really has nothing. And in a sport where most of the athletes have jiu jitsu, and or wrestling backgrounds he wont last long.
Congo puts on boring fights. I was happy to see Herring come back against him. Gameplan: I smash you into cage… i single leg take you down… i lay on you… lay on you more… throw non effective short punches beacsue my lack of ground confidence prevents me form posturing up… i get stood up… repeat.
Kongo is a great fighter. He destroyed Cro Cop cor christs sake. Not only that but am I going crazy here? Kongo should have won the decision against Herring. He got more take downs, more strikes, and consistantly outfought him. All Herring got was the punch at the beginning and then those ounches to the ribs while Kongo was on the ground (which did NOTHING). Kongos ground game is constantly improving, I can see him going on a long way after he wins this fight.
