I think if anything the main stream success of the sport should cause it to become more standardized in that they will eventually be compelled like MLB and the NFL to police their athletes. I think what we love about the UFC will only get better as it becomes more popular while situations like this will no longer happen, at least as often, in the future.

one thing that makes this big news is back before the "mainstream surge" of the ufc, josh barrnett beat randy coutoure for the heavyweight title, but was stripped of it after drug testing showed performance enhancing drugs showed up.if the ufc wants to be respected as a "real sport" they need to be consistant.i am a huge fan and have been since the beginning.i hope the growth and new found appreciaton/mass coverage of
the sport doesn't cause it to change.

I think a lot of people are simply upset that there wasn't any testing because all of the other major sports do it on their own and UFC should too, at least that's how I feel. The biggest part in all of this is fair competition and I think it means a lot more in the UFC when someones strength is being put into a punch whereas in other sports it helps you perform better. We'll have to watch this develop.

Been reading this big news all morning. I'm not sure what it really means but it is what it is and I hope it doesn't spark competition.
