UFC President Dana White announced after UFC 135 that Jon Jones, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, Josh Koschek, and Nate Diaz have each earned $75,000 for their respective performances at Saturday’s UFC 135 event in Denver, Colorado.
The UFC light heavyweight champion Jones and Jackson earned “Fight of the Night” for their headlining title bout. Jones controlled the majority of the fight with his range before sinking in a rear naked choke finish in the fourth round.
Koschek (pictured courtesy of UFC.com) scored “Knockout of the Night” for his first-round KO of hall of famer Matt Hughes. Koschek and Hughes fought a fast-paced fight before Hughes was rocked by Kos later in the opening round and finished on the ground with one second remaining. While an emotional Hughes said he would not retire after the fight, his request to be “put on the shelf” could mean the same in the end.
Diaz picked up “Submission of the Night” for his armbar win over Takanori Gomi that kicked of the UFC 135 pay-per-view. Diaz dominated the fight before Gomi took him down in the final minute. Diaz quickly locked in a triangle choke and transitioned beautifully into an armbar on the quickly fading Gomi.
