After losing his Strikeforce debut to lightweight Pat Healy this past Saturday, Sengoku veteran Maximo Blanco is dropping is dropping from 155-pounds to the 145-pound featherweight division and moving to the UFC, the fighter’s management announced Wednesday.
“[Blanco] will be back strong, very soon, this time, at 145 lbs in the UFC,” Sucker Punch Entertainment wrote.
A date and opponent for Blanco’s Octagon debut have not been announced.
Blanco’s (8-3-1) second-round submission to Healy was his first loss since a 2009 DQ and he came close to being disqualified again after kicking Healy in the face on the ground in a strong opening round.
The UFC featherweight division is currently led by champion Jose Aldo, who puts his title on the line against Kenny Florian next month at UFC 136.

I cannot remember the last time Zuffa signed a fighter after a loss.
Phil Baroni comes to mind
So Maximo Blanco got a UFC contract from El Supremo Blanco after repeatedly cheap-shotting Pat Healy.
I wonder what he would have gotten if he’d broken Healy’s orbital bone with one of those illegal kicks, a plush office next to Dana White’s and a lapdance from Arianny Celeste?
;-)
Stupid, just stupid to sign someone who just lost decisively to b level competition while almost getting disqualified in the process. tsk tsk Dana.
We are still talking about the same guy who just pulled a switch-a-roo on the 137 main and co-main event opponents, right? And THIS surprises you?
Pat Healy is not second rate competition my friend.. he should of got the call not blanco tho
the guy has wins over Condit, Daley, Dan Hardy, lyle beerbohm and among others
