Strikeforce’s Daniel Cormier Out 6-8 Weeks with Broken Hand

Strikeforce heavyweight grand prix finalist Daniel Cormier will be sidelined from training for six to eight weeks from a broken hand suffered in his semifinal win over Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva via first-round knockout on Saturday, according to USA Today.

It is not yet known if the injury will affect the tournament final against Josh Barnett, but Cormier should still have time for a full training camp before facing Barnett early next year.

Cormier was himself a replacement for an injured Alistair Overeem, the Strikeforce heavyweight champion and tournament favorite who has since signed with the UFC for a December debut against Brock Lesnar.
