The UFC awarded $100,000 bonuses to Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Edson Barboza, and Ross Pearson for their efforts at UFC 134 on Saturday night in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Nogueira scored UFC 134′s “Knockout of the Night” for his comeback victory over Brendan Schaub, as “Minotauro” sent “The Hybrid” face-first to the canvas with punches at 3:09 of the opening round. Other candidates include “Shogun” Rua’s first-round KO of Forrest Griffin and Erick Silva’s 40-second TKO of Luis Ramos.
Barboza and Pearson were expected to provide a “Fight of the Night” candidate and did not disappoint, as their technical stand-up battle created a razor thin decision on the scorecards in Barboza’s favor and also earned each fighter $100,000.
As there were no submissions at UFC 134, no “Submission of the Night” bonus was handed out. Attendance numbers were not given for the raucous crowd at the post-fight conference, but it is likely those numbers may become available later in the week.
