Former WEC contender Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone continued his climb up the lightweight rankings with a third-round TKO of Brazilian prospect Charles “do Bronx” Oliveira, his third-straight UFC win and fifth-straight overall.
The fight got off to an even start as both fighters looked to find their range with strikes, but Cerrone dropped Oliveira with a punch to the body and knee to the head before a flurry of ground and pound stopped the bout at 3:01 of the opening round.

Round 1 – Oliveira opens the bout with leg kicks as he bounces on the outside, then Cerrone stalks forward and land a knee. Cerrone fires a kick that narrowly catches Oliveira in the groin, but they continue after a brief break. Oliviera attack Cerrone with kicks to the body as “Cowboy” waits for an opening. Cerrone puts Oliveira down with a punch to the body and knee to the head, then swarms with ground and pound to earn the first-round TKO as Oliveira is unable to defend himself.
