The Ultimate Fighter 2 welterweight winner, lightweight veteran, and current featherweight Joe Stevenson has been cut by the UFC.
The move was not unexpected as Stevenson dropped his fourth-straight fight to Javier Vasquez on the preliminary card of UFC on Versus 4 in June. MMAFighting originally broke the news.
Stevenson went 8-8 in his UFC career and peaked at UFC 80, when he lost a bloody fight with BJ Penn for the UFC lightweight title. After that fight, Stevenson went 3-6 inside the Octagon and dropped his last four fights, with his most-recent loss marking his 145-pound debut
Stevenson becomes the fourth Ultimate Fighter winner to be cut by the promotion, joining fellow TUF winners Efrain Escudero, Travis Lutter, and Kendall Grove on the list.
