EliteXC “Primetime” To Include Five Televised, Seven Preliminary Bouts

EliteXC has released the official event poster (displayed at right) for Saturday Night Fights 1, now dubbed “EliteXC: Primetime”. In addition to prominently promoting Kimbo Slice vs. James Thompson and Robbie Lawler vs. Scott Smith, the co-main events, the poster revels that seven preliminary bouts will be streamed live on ProElite.com. In total, the May 31st event will feature twelve fights, five of which will be aired live on CBS beginning at 9pm ET.
The current official fight card for the event is below:
- Kevin “Kimbo Slice†Ferguson vs. James Thompson
- Robbie Lawler vs. Scott Smith
EliteXC Middleweight Championship - Gina Carano vs. Kaitlin Young
- Phil Baroni vs. Murilo “Ninja†Rua
- Brett Rogers vs. Jon Murphy

I will definitely watch but Kimbo is once again fighting someone worthless. Apologies to James Thompson but I am tired of Elite XC hyping itself up behind Kimbo because in my opinion, he looks bad for MMA. I’d like to see Scott Smith win but does it really matter who the middleweight champion is if your name is not Anderson Silva? Phil Baroni is a has been and for all the build up on how BIG this event was for MMA I am 95% unimpressed. I hope Kimbo get his face broken or injures himself right out of MMA.
How is Kimbo bad for mma. it it because all the hipe he gets? i dont think hes bad for the sport at all. he get people to tune in and he fights. alls i hear about is kimbo is a CRAP FIGHTER! Give the guy a break hes only fought 3 times man! of course hes not fighting the number one mma superstar yet! NO ONE GOES UP Against Top ranked fighters there first few times! Elite XC is the one who hipes it all to get people to watch. not him never has he stayed that he s the number one mma fighter in the world. and Elite XC is not the only org to be doing this look at the UFC and Brock Lesnar he is doing the same thing as kimbo fighting low ranked fighters to build up hes name he fought Min Soo Kim whos 3-6-0 and frank mirr who is not the same fighter as he was before his crash and now up to Mark Colman who 43 and has been retired for more then 3 years. People cut the man some slack for now. kimbo will fight who ever they will put in front of him, its only a matter of time till hes really put to the test then we will all see if kimbo will rise to that test!
Lawler should be the main event. Why do are there even belts anymore?? Why is there a champion if the whole promotion goes off of one guy?? They should call it, KIMBO SLICE presents, THE ELITEXC.

I beg to differ! Bas ain’t stupid cause they both know if he goes against a true MMA fighter with ground game he is done! Bas has stated this. You say Mir ain’t the same, but Mir would take out Kimbo with Ji Jitsu very quick! Kimbo is a joke and will soon show it when he quits fighting no names, has beens, and never was!
Kimbo is bad for MMA because he is a street fighting thug. His popularity was built on the internet for STREET FIGHTING! While the leading organization the UFC tries to tarnish the reputation of fighters being “street fighters” and prove they are legimate athletes in a tehcnical combat sport, people like Gary Shaw and his pet Kimbo promote a low grade dirty form of MMA. Talentless at many levels. Just because people tune in and Kimbo fights does not make him a legit MMA fighter by MMA standards. Furthermore, Brock Lesnar did not fall out of the sky into the octogon. His wrestling background is superb. He is an athlete. Kimbo is a street fighter. Big difference. Lesnar has technical talent while Kimbo has heavy hands. Lesnar fought Mir a former champ with insane jui jitsu. Kimbo fought that guy with no name, Tank who is 75 yrs old and another guy who never fought before. Pretty impressive. KIMBO is a JOKE! Get over it bro, the guy is a street fighter being promoting by Gary Shaw a former boxing promoter who use to bash MMA like crazy. It’s all about the money.

Your post was classic but I think that sentence there made it beautiful. Another thing, Mir is not a low ranked fighter. Out of his prime….YES. Still with another win he probably gets a title shot. Unless the TUF 8 rumors are true in which case he is getting a title shot. I just cannot get over the distorted view you have comparing Lesnar and Kimbo. I would actually like to see the two fight but your views are whacked.
Wow Wait just one second here KOuch you need to do your homework the ufc has and in the past promoted your hated STREET FIGHTS do you remember **** Sean Gannon**** who fought Branden Lee Hinkle they where all about the Boston police officer who was famous from beating one KIMBO SLICE so yeah i think im right one that one. and UFC vet Tank i could of used but that was to easy! but regardless man i was not saying that kimbo was a great or even a good fighter im saying just chill on the guy till we see a bit more of him.

Now thats a bold statement Brock Lesnar did indeed just fall in to the octagon being a well known publicity stunt and thats all! if anything hes definitely watering down the league being paid more per match then lagitamit fighters. and for hes superb wrestling that didn’t help him out much against Frank mir now did it.
lol Sean Gannon vs. Branden Lee Hinkle at ufc 55 that is one of the most brutal ground and pounds i ever saw!
