Dan Henderson: I Have No Idea Who, When, or Where I’m Fighting Next

Dan Henderson

Dan Henderson quote from the Ottawa Sun:

“I have no idea who I’m fighting next, or when, or where,” says the former two-time U.S. Olympic wrestler. I don’t even know what weight class. I’m going to try to pin them down to get some answers [soon].”

Fans eager to see “Hendo” back in the octagon are going to have to wait to find out details on when the former double PRIDE-champion will return to action, though fans should be relieved to know that he’s signed for four more fights with the UFC.

Thats good news. I was seriously disapointed in Hendo’s performance against Anderson Silva – i expected Hendo to take him down and finish him with Ground and Pound! I’d like to see a rematch, I know Hendo is better than that!

I don’t see any point in Dan fighting at 205 (he looked small next to Silva at 185!) I’d like to see Dan fight Franklin, Okami or Bisping then get another shot at Bisping

  • JAI says:

I hope the UFC isn’t given up on this guy. I know that he’s lost two big fights. At one point, Liddell had lost two big fights in a row and the UFC remained “high” on him as well as Vanderlei and there’s been other fighters as well. Bottm line is, Hendo is still a big name in the sport and there are still some big fights left out there for him at both 185 and 205. In my opinion, they should have put him in against Evans to replace Liddell for the June 7th PPV. Other than Evans, here are some other potential match ups

    at 170lb:
    1) Franklin
    2) Bisping
    3) Marquardt
    4) Okami
    5) Cote
    6) Leban
    7) Rematch with Silva (after a few big wins in a row)

    at 205lb:
    1) Liddell
    2) Shogun
    3) Machida
    4) Griffen
    5) Jardine
    6) Rubber match with Vanderlei
    7) Rematch with Rampage (after a few big wins in a row)

  • Dirty says:

I agree JAI, he should replace Liddell, Henderson is still one of the best in the world at 185 and 205. In my opinion he is almost, if not just as powerful in selling a PPV as Liddell.

Thats how much I like and respect Hendo !!!!!!

  • rutdog says:

With as much money as they are probably handing Dan-H, they need him to win almost as bad as he needs himself to win. You know how certain people get to fight easier opponents, well, I think this is going to be one of those situations. He needs someone that hasn’t been tested on the UFC’s big stage. Some relatively unknown that basically the UFC can build up to look really good and then have Dan-H beat the Poo out of. I believe that will happen.

  • Snake Attack says:

Hendersons is a student of Gracie Jiu Jit for how many years now ? I believe it to be about 15 years. He would totally destroy a boxing specialist like Sugar Shane Evans.

Its a complete mismatch and Hollywood Dan is not at the level of Pay Per View headliner yet. With Liddell injured they should throw in Alexander Houstons.

    and Jai, its 185 not 170 ….

  • mburten says:

I doubt it. Hendo, like Franklin, will serve as litmus tests for future title contenders. If a guy can’t get through Hendo or Franklin, he is unlikely to ever fight Silva. I’d like to see the winner of Leben vs. Bisping fight Hendo, or possibly the winner of Marquardt vs. Leites. Hendo could fight any of the other top 9 guys in the MW division on a main-card fight at any UFC event. It will draw no matter what as long as Hendo’s name is on it. He will be making $ for the UFC no matter what, as long as he doesn’t lose too many more. Look at Wanderlei Silva; He’s coming off of 3 losses (to 3 great fighters) and his fight is #2 on the main card @ UFC 84. Hendo will be just fine.

  • E-ROC says:

    Franklin vs Hendo.

  • mike, troy NY says:

lets go with hendo vs franklin.. i think thats the fight most fans want to see

  • Dirty says:

SNAKE ATTACK …. maybe you should go find another MMA site because your just taking up space and wasting peoples time …….. seriously.

  • JAI says:

SNAKE ATTACK, Henderson is not Gracie BJJ guy. He is a wrestler and so is Evans. They both just happen to be pretty well rounded and good at boxing and BJJ which says to me, this would be a pretty darn good match up between a BIG name guy and an UP & COMING guy. I’m not saying Evans/Irvin isn’t a good match up, what I’m saying is HENDERSEN-VS-EVANS is more PPV worthy than EVANS-vs-IRVIN. Evans-Irvin is an undercard macth up or a Fight Night main event, but not a PPV main event.

  • JAI says:

…and by the way snake, although I like Alexander Houston, he just lost 2 in a row both by TKO. Knowing this, do you seriously think the UFC would put him in a PPV main event, if so, it just shows your ignorance or maybe your “newness” to the sport.

  • seemore says:

i think Hendo is kinda at a crossroads…hard to say what he’s gonna do. whatever it is, he’ll have to put in a couple of stellar performances to put himself in any weight class…

  • rutdog says:

JAI **** slapped Snake attack over the internetS. Ha.

  • seemore says:

as for houston alexander, that guy needs to go back to omaha and get a few wins…excting fighter, but 2 devastating losses…he is no main event, by a long shot…he’s got his work cut out for him…

  • segablack says:

yeah Henderson was trained from Real American Wrestling team. And he Currently trains with Team Quest which is also a co-founder along with Matt Lindland and Randy Couture

  • joey says:

Wtf dumbass SNaKE ATTACK hendo graice no no no he is machado but most of all he is greico roman wrestler dumbass

  • jpm says:

Snake Attack ha ha ha ha,you got owned!!!!!!

  • Big Marv says:

Snake Attack has got to be 1 of the dumbest Mutha****as that has ever typed on this site! Go back and read your comic books boy! **** Snake Attack you should be Dick Head!

  • ihatedana says:

No one is going to beat silva at 185 so the only rational thing to do is have him move up to 205 where he’ll still be a monster and probably win the title.

Then as mentioned above franklin can fight hendo for the 185 title.

If this does not happen the slaughter will just have to continue :)

  • Chavezz says:

HE CAN BEAT ANYONE AT 205 AND OR MIDDLE WIEGHT IMO
