GSP takes care of Fitch and then Alves. BJ does the same to Sherk and Huerta/Florian.

GSP/PENN 2. The best fight in MMA.

  • chuck says:

Way to go GSP you made a whole country proud!!!

  • Dave says:

Pierre just totally out classed Serra, but I think Serra still should win against Hughes.

Two of my favorite fighters – Pierre and Penn.

That would be fight of the year.

  • FixXeR says:

GSP has already beaten BJ Dave….it wasnt really that good of a fight.

As far as idiot of the night, Kalib Starnes should be docked in pay or sumthing. Its sad when ur home country is booing you cause you dont stand up and fight….just run away like a little girl. That fight was ridiculous.

I knew GSP would take that one.

Lutter wanted that fight to end….he was doe after the first round. He needs to fight at 205 so he doesnt have to cut so much weight. Its obviously a problem for him.

  • Steve says:

GSP proved once and for all that Serra’s win was just a lucky punch…..he completely dominated him I dont think Serra even landed a punch!!!! I dont think that Matt Serra could beat Matt Hughes or Josh Koscheck and Georges bet them both easily….I doubt that Matt will be looking for a rematch anytime soon if ever.

  • King says:

Fix, the problem with Lutter is , he doesn’t have a training coach. He is leader of his own camp so theirs know one to push him. He is screwed any ways, he wouldn’t last a minute at 205.

  • SEACK says:

Another day at the office for GSP good job.CONGRATS to you.Now I would like to talk about this CLOWN what’s his name? oh yea Kalib Starnes what the hell was that all about if you did’nt want to fight why the hell did you even show up.That **** was terrible.I was fighting just to stay awake.Hey Dana don’t pay him a damb dime he did not earn it.

  • Jake says:

Yeah the Kalib Starnes crap was something else, but I loved Nate Quarry: “If I can change…and you can change…everybody can change!” LOL classic.

  • revjames13 says:

GSP may have beaten Penn by out pointing him with takedowns in the second and third, but he got sent to the hospital while Penn walked away untouched. Since then BJ has taken his game to another level (just watch what he does to Sherk.) To GSP’s credit, he’s gotten better as well. His wrestling game is just on another planet. These are two of the top three P4P in the world. BJ has the best jits in MMA. GSP has the best functional wrestling. They come out about even in striking. GSP has more in his toolbox strikingwise, but BJ has heavier hands and he won the standup when they fought (witness a busted up GSP in the hospital). This would be a fight for the ages and 5 rounds this time. BJ would be in the shape of his life and never more focused because this is a career legacy match. The smart money would be on GSP wrestling him to a decision. I say BJ by third round sub.

  • phil says:

Yes! home boy GSP took the title, congrats to ya!
I wonder who he will fight next? Serra vs. Hughes will be good for sure though

btw, f*** Bj Penn! Sherk will own him am bring the title where it belongs

  • nate180 says:

where does the title belong? in the hands of a guy who couldn’t hold it because he takes steroids?? nahhhh i dont think so, BJ is gonna bust up sherk….

  • revjames13 says:

Sherk will own nothing except a wrist splint from tapping out so hard after BJ submits him. He also might walk away with a black eye or two if he thinks he can stand with him. Probably not and he will go for the takedown right away. Then what? Transition to side control all night. Yeah, right. BJ subs him. End of story.

    PENN VS. GSP!

  • E-ROC says:

The universe can rest easier, now that GSP has his title back. Now, will he be the dominate champion that everyone claimed he will be? We shall see.

  • Levente says:

I was rooting for Travis, and I was really pissed, that he gased out at the end of the 1st round. I mean you can’t think that you gonna walk trough Franklin like he were Patrick Cote. I think something similar is gonna happen in the Sherk vs Penn fight.

  • JOHNBOY says:

all u bisping haters seem to be quiet, the count is an animal at 185

  • buddy says:

I was at the Bell Centre for the fight and it looked like in the MacDonald fight when Joe got knocked out, MacD looked at the ref, the ref called it and then MacD then gave him an elbow and a punch while he was out. If so this was totally classless and very dangerous. Did I see this wrong?

  • FixXeR says:

he fought Mcarthy JOHNBOY…..If you remember TUF…he was pretty much the wussy of the whole show. I want him to fight Franklin….beat a top tier fighter and ill give him his props.

  • Brandon says:

I think that GSP is a much better P4P fighter than BJ Penn. And don’t get me wrong, I think BJ is amazing, but if GPS didn’t recieve a finger in the eye in their first fight that first round may have been quite different.

And it’s also hard to come back and start to outstrike your opponent with a broken nose too. I think in a rematch GSP would dominate Penn, to Penn’s credit he is a much better 155 pounder and GSP could easily make a transition to 185, so Penn would be manhandled due to size and strength more so than skill. But look at how long GSP was in BJ’s guard without even coming close to being submitted. Penn wants that rematch, and I think he’ll get schooled by a very game GSP.

Also since we’re talking about Penn and Sherk I actually expect the upset, I think Sherk beats Penn by outworking him and taking him into the later rounds. Sherk is very hard to submit and he is a much more talented boxer than some people give him credit for. I see Sherk also taking Penn down often and outworking him for the first few rounds and really making Penn work for anything he does. Then I see him finishing it in the 4th.

  • revjames13 says:

Penn was supposed to be put to the test against Stevenson, who I think easily goes the distance with Sherk in a close fight. Instead BJ takes him apart like he was fighting his little brother. I I admi, the talk of Penn/GSP is premature until BJ dismantles Sherk. It isn’t about just getting past Sherk, he needs to thoroughly outclass him, which I think he will.

The BJ Penn that will show up is the one I’ve been waiting for years to see once he got his act together. And you can tell now he finally has. Most people have no idea how good he really is. Step one was taking the title in dominant fashion. Step two is destroying Sherk. Step 3 is the superfight with GSP. St. Pierre shouldn’t even mention Silva until he faces off with Penn.

  • 2girls1cup says:

f*** BJ?!? how could anyone say that, he’s the man. and how could anyone be pro sherk, the guy cheated and is about the most boring thing to happen to MMA since Tim Sylvia. Sherk may be tough to submit, but so is hughes, and BJ pulled that one off before.

as for bisping, i’ll admit he looked good against a nobody, but i still hate the guy. it looked like he broke the guys wrist and after the fight i’m pretty sure i saw him ask if he could still get a reach around at the after party. the count is gay

  • revjames13 says:

#14: “…it’s also hard to come back and start to outstrike your opponent with a broken nose too…”

How did GSP get his nose broken? Walking into the octagon? Oh yeah, it was from BJ punching him in the nose.

  • E-ROC says:

Brandon, BJ Penn fought as high as 185 against Machida. So he is no stranger to being small and out muscled. BJ went the distance with Machida when he wasn’t working on his conditioning. So size doesn’t faze Penn.

  • Brandon says:

I’m pretty sure Penn actually fought at HW. But Penn gives up a LOT of size against St Pierre and thats what lost him the fight the first time. Now that GSP has a new strength and conditioning coach, as well as boxing/wrestling/muay thai he is a LOT better than before.

I hope that Penn does well and beats Sherk cause I’d like to see Penn get dismantled by GSP and that’s the only way I see it happening but I do think it’ll Sherk’s night against Penn.

  • JustJoe says:

BJ Penn = King! Quote of the year, “Sean Sherk, you’re DEAD!”

I’d love to see Penn vs GSP 2, but i’d rather see GSP vs Spider Silva first.

  • Kris says:

Not sure if he fought at HW or not but I know he’s talked about fighting up there before. Simply astonishing to think about really considering that’s nearly double his current fighting weight.

  • Kris says:

Personally I think Sherk-Penn is going to be razor thin and would actually favor Sherk by a hair. It is going to be wonderful but I think Sherk can ride out for 5 rounds for a decision, but that’s just me looking from the outside in.

  • Kris says:

“I was at the Bell Centre for the fight and it looked like in the MacDonald fight when Joe got knocked out, MacD looked at the ref, the ref called it and then MacD then gave him an elbow and a punch while he was out. If so this was totally classless and very dangerous. Did I see this wrong?”

For sure that is what happened but it wasn’t MacDonald at all, I put it all on the ref. Doerksen was definitely out but the ref came in and looked like he was going to stop it, and probably should have, but didn’t and MacDonald did his job and kept hitting til he did step in a sec or two later.

From where I was sitting in the arena I thought he kept hitting him after it was over but I quickly changed my mind once I saw the replay.

  • Kris says:

“all u bisping haters seem to be quiet, the count is an animal at 185″

He looked good but we really need to see more before I can make a judgement. McCarthy was thoroughly outclassed. Personally I’d like to see Bisping fight Lutter but that’s just me, it seems like a fight that makes sense right now.

  • Kris says:

“I was rooting for Travis, and I was really pissed, that he gased out at the end of the 1st round. I mean you can’t think that you gonna walk trough Franklin like he were Patrick Cote. I think something similar is gonna happen in the Sherk vs Penn fight.”

I agree. I really like Lutter and this he has potential but he really needs to get his act together and win his next fight if he’s staying with the UFC. He was thoroughly gassed but did have Franklin in trouble. In the end though we’re in a very similar position to the one we had last summer/fall and that is Franklin again but himself as one of the few legit contenders at 185, though with a solid showing Kampmann has some potential with some others as well.

  • Kris says:

“Yes! home boy GSP took the title, congrats to ya!
I wonder who he will fight next? Serra vs. Hughes will be good for sure though”

Here’s the way I see it. I think it’s going to be GSP-Fitch and Serra-Hughes. GSP wins and Serra wins I think we see GSP-Serra III as MSG in NYC. Otherwise I see GSP headlining another Canada card and Serra-Hughes could even be a headliner in NY too. A lot of unknowns but Serra is still a controversial draw a la Tito Ortiz and could def. draw a crowd, especially in NY.

  • The Rob says:

Did anyone see Franklin bend his arm onto itself while standing in his corner before the fight? That was crazy… totally explains how he got out of that arm bar. I wanna see Bisping get rocked by Franklin. In the same ppv that Silva destroys Machida (assuming he beats Tito).

  • revjames13 says:

Watch how BJ submits Sherk and we’ll talk.

    GSP jogs through Fitch.

BJ takes down Florian/Huerta with extreme prejudice.

GSP surveys his stock report while cleaning up Alves.

BJ and GSP square off for the #1 P4P title (oh yeah, someone beat Silva in the interim– Okami, Marquardt, it’s anybody’s guess, but it will happen.)

BJ submits GSP and is the #1 P4P.

  • FixXeR says:

Only problem though Kris is, Serra wont beat Hughes. Hughes nailed it on the head when he says Serra is not an elite fighter.

  • kelvin says:

hey johnboy, it doesn’t take much to beat a fat tub of lard who hasn’t fought in 16 months and has no stand-up game. bisping looked lightning quick because he was fighting a guy who’s as slow as a car with no engine! let him fight leben or okami and we’ll see how he gets destroyed.

    bisping hater 4 life!!!

  • Danum says:

All this TAlk abt BJ going against GSP. Dident that muscle head beat down Matt Hughes Beat down BJ? Ground and pounded his face in? GSP would destroy BJ! I think GSP Stand up game is Nuts, and we all saw what Mathughes(the wrestler) did to BJ. GSP has all the tools to dismantle BJ.

BJ needs to stay at 155 and beat Sherk first. And GSP needs to go to work in his division.

Boo to all the talk to traveling weight clases.

    Side Note:

  • belly says:

i still dont understand why people go on about bj beating up gsp in the 1st round.yes he did but then proceeded to lose the next 2 rounds and the fight.i like both bj and gsp but if they fight at ww then gsp will always be the favourite.bj looks far better at lw and has a lot of fights there before he should think about moving back up.

  • hoppy says:

What will everyone be saying if Bisping does beat a big name at 185lbs, maybe then he might get some respect, i accept that mcarthy is a joke but i think he is gonna be a fight for most of the top guys at this weight, not that there’s many !!!!!!! Bj is the man too !!!!!!!!!

  • JOHNBOY says:

kevein n fixxer i want the count to fight top fighters bring it on u can only beat whos put in front of u an thats wat he did he beat him till he layed there like a big puff and wanted no more,
i say count an franklin go at it next it would be a stand up war and a fight any mma fan would want to see like the guy or not!!!
BJ RULES and wen he beats sherk him an gsp at 170 first guy to hold two belts at one time!

  • kenny says:

kalib should be banned from the ufc after that bull**** performance he was trying to win a decision without fighting who only scored as far as GSP goes he did what he had too now hughes can make it 2 losses in a row over serra

  • kelvin says:

FINALLY WE AGREE JOHNBOY! i want to see bisping fight top guys too, although i want to see it happen so he can be exposed for who he really is, AN AVERAGE FIGHTER. let’s see bisping fight okami, leben, franklin, hendo, etc. just b/c he beats below average fighters doesn’t make him the “real deal”. (i.e.-houston alexander beat keith jardine and alessio sakara but got his ass handed to him by thiago silva and james irvin…he is NOT the real deal!)
