This isn’t a bad card. There are some big names on this card including 4 of the top 10 Heavyweights in the MMA and 1 up and comer.
So, does this mean that Sylvia and Arlovski both have left the UFC or did the UFC grant them permission to fight on this card? I know Dana doesn normally allow his fighters to fight on other cards but has in the past – at least in the case of Melvin Guilard and I was wondering if he let these guys as well or have they bolted from UFC? Does anyone know for sure? If so, please fill me!

These boys are gone. And I for one am glad to see it. This could be a very good card.
Seriously, this is the best non-UFC card I’ve seen in a long time. It seems that Affliction has done very well at acquiring top-ranked talent; aside from GSP vs Serra 2, I’d say this card is much more interesting than the UFC 83 card. If Affliction continues on this path, the UFC may lose it’s relative monopoly on MMA in the U.S.

AA should’ve stayed in the UFC he is still a good fighter and can still bring in a crowd. Tim on the other hand doesn’t have anything but a stand up game his ground game sucks! I don’t think Fedor is going to ever sign with Dana if he does he won’t last but so long because of the Nevada rules he’s use to fighting in Pride rules where they can kick in the head while you’re down. But this is still a good card.
Where’s your source man? Affliction doesn’t even have an MMA organization officially announced yet and they are holding an event in June? Fedor hasn’t even signed the contract to fight Sylvia yet. This is all rumour and speculation.
Ben Rothwell said himself on the sherdog forum that the Arlovski fight isn’t happening.

I’ve seen Fedor kick someone who’s on the ground ONCE, so that won’t be a factor at all.
Where did this come from? Knew about Sylvia but hadn’t heard anything announced about Arlovski. Been waiting for some news on him.

I dont understand your comments rutdog… Why are you happy to see TS and AA leave the UFC? They are top tier heavyweight competitors. I will be surprised if the heavyweight division ever shows much “talent”. To fight at that weight, there is a major loss of speed and gain of strength which makes for more boring MMA fights.
On trick ponys will be a staple of the heavyweight division for a long time. AA is fairly well rounded for being a heavyweight. TS uses his reach and takedown defense (sometimes) well and is capable of putting on an interesting fight. Ill give you that he has been boring in the last few fights, but he has to fight his game. The world is different at 6′6″.
The fight card does look good. I dont think any of these fights will be great fights MMA wise but I can appreciate a rumble.
Im not impressed with Fedor. He hasnt fought many tall strikers (I won’t even count Hong Man Choi, he is 7′2″ but it was his 2nd fight). We will see what kind of takedown defense Tim brings. I personally think this is TIm’s fight to lose but I dont put that past him. Lets see which Tim shows up.
Ben has beat a bunch of 2nd tier competitors. I take AA in that fight heavily. People are hating on AA for losing to TS twice, but if you remove those two losses from his history, he has a pretty impressive fight record. Keep in mind he is 1-2 vs. Tim Silvia, not 0-2. I think this is a case of AA being a better fighter but just not being well adapted to Tim’s style.
None of the bouts are official as far as I know (last I heard Fedor-Sylvia wasn’t yet signed) but they are all rumored to be taking place at the event. I modified the title of the post so people understand that this is a rumored card and nothing official.
As good as it looks I am not completely impressed. I am however insanely excited to see this actually happen! To me, the card looks to be made up of popular fighters who have lost matches recently putting them out of UFC title contention, aged a bit out of their prime or have dimishing skills.
As for Tim and Fedor….I want them both to be hurt really really really bad. I want one of them to get KO so bad an eyeball pops out and they poop their shorts followed by seizures. I want to see foam and blood spewing from the losers mouth while the winner does a belly dance around the ring and urinates on him.
Personaly i cant understand why dana chucked AA i can kinda understand TS because he just doesnt put butts on seats but to get rid Arlovski? something there just doesnt add up i no he was half assed wen he faught Werdum but is that it? anyone have any ideas?
Good to see Babalu about would like to see him back in the UFC and drop a weight would be interesting.
Fedor just seems to be holding out for the big money but no one will pay it, so i cant see him fighting in the near future which is a shame because him vs Sylvia would have been a great fight.
I still don’t get this…Sylvia and Rothwell signed with Adrenaline (old m-1) not Affliction…and if Ardenaline is Co-promoting this card with Affliction then why did Fedor leave and why did they let him leave? I don’t get that? Affliction is not offical yet and i think it take more then 2 month to put on a show…you have to get approval from gov. bodys, venue, and market it. This just doesn’t make any sence.
PS how many shirts does Affliction have to sell to pay Fedor his $2,000,000?

Maybe Dana/UFC wanted to keep AA but they couldn’t agree a deal. Or maybe the negotiations are still ongoing? I haven’t seen any news (like we did with Sylvia) confirming he’s left/he’s signed.
The UFC had an exclusive agreement period with Arlovski but his contract was fulfilled with his UFC 82 bout. If this bout does get signed its certain that the UFC didn’t resign him as there is no way the UFC will support Affliction’s promotion and certainly not with a big name like Sylvia or Arlovski.
According to rumors the UFC is looking to cut down its roster of fighters, which White stated was over 200 in a recent conference call, and Sylvia, having lost two of his last three, was a casualty of the cuts and was released from the last fight on his contract.

Rothwell denied it on the forums but he also stated Arlovski is still under contract with the UFC, which we know he is not (unless of course he re-signed which I’m sure we would have heard about). Like I said before, this is rumored fights for the card and is far from official. Just wanted to clarify that again.
This is shaping up to be a really great card. I wonder what sponsorship deals will look like since it is being run by Affliction?
Sponsorship will be interesting but I think most MMA clothing companies will be still allowed to sponsor because they’re really a niche company and nothing else is really in the same market far as I know.
It is a great card if it can come together.
Ilove the “idea” of this card….. but every time I get TOO excited about a non-UFC event- it gets cancelled. This one has some big backers though. I think that it is an easy to predict card though….

“IF” Rothwell and Arlovski fought, AA would smoke “BIG BEN’s” ASS.
I really would like to see a way for the UFC’s “top teer” of fighters to be able to take on the likes of Barnett,Fedor, or the rest of the MMA world. The UFC has proven in the past that their ability to pay top $$$ gets them the best…… but a promotion like Affliction could put an end to their “monopoly” on top talent. The UFC will have to cross promote to keep their title as the “true champion” of MMA. If they play their cards right, they could shut a lot of people up, but if they don’t prove they still have the #1 talent pool in the business, they could go under.
Andrei Better not have left the UFC, he was my fav heaviyweight and if he does this s*** he will just fall off the map.
