Continuing the theme from our other event update of the day we have 3 more fighters who have been added to the fight card for UFC 71. These additions push the fight total to 9 (standard for the UFC except for tomorrow’s UFC 70). There is only one fighter missing and that is Thiago Silva’s opponent but I would not be surprised to see some of the fights still change.

• Wilson Gouveia (2-1 UFC) will be facing Carmelo Marrero (1-1 UFC) at UFC 71 on May 26th. Gouvei dropped a decision to Keith Jardine on TUF 3 and most recently defeated Seth Petruzelli at UFC Fight Night 9. Marrero lost his last UFC fight at UFC 66 to Gabriel Gonzaga.
• Also, UFCJunkie.com has confirmed that Keith Jardine (4-1 UFC) will indeed be facing Houston Alexander (0-0 UFC) at UFC 71. This is a surprise to most fans who know Jardine is on the rise but is being put up against a UFC newcomer. Alexander has won his last 6 MMA fights (out of 7 total) but the fights have been over a near 6 year span so it will be very hard to judge Alexander on his past performance but I would guess Jardine will be one of the biggest betting favorites for this event.
