According to The Fight Network the Pride lightweight GP that was recently postponed has been rescheduled for July 16th. The event has been moved from the Satima Super Arena to a smaller venue. Here’s an excerpt from the article:

“…the three-event tournament has a new kick-off date of July 16 and will be held at the smaller Nagoya Rainbow Hall, where a number of past PRIDE and PRIDE Bushido events have been held.”

The article indicates that round 2 of the GP will be held sometime in September before it wraps up in November.

The same Fight Network article also has news on several other Pride happenings worthy of reporting. Lorenzo Fertitta is planning on building a “giant” Pride attraction in Tokyo which will include a musuem, sports bar, and gym. No further dates were given but don’t expect this to be ready until 2009.

Also, the new management of Pride will be held by  “two americans”. The only names mentioned are the new owners of Pride, the Fertittas, although there are other possibilities. An announcement of both the Pride complex as well as management is expected to come later this month.
