An April Fools Joke From Matt Hughes

Matt Hughes apparently wishes to move up two weight classes, and wants his first fight at light-heavyweight to be against Mauricio “Shogun†Rua.
From the Matt Hughes web blog:
“Well, for a long time I’ve talked about going up in weight class and I’ve decided to finally do it. Only I’m not going up to 185, I’m going up to 205 to fight Mauricio “Shogun” Rua in June. I’m bulking up now and packing on muscle and I’m thinking that it will be nice to not have to cut weight for a change. I think it’s a great match-up for me and I’ve told Dana that if I win this, then I want a shot at the 205 title next.”
You have to think April Fools on this one, but then again Matt Hughes is a pretty serious guy…

Surely he can’t be serious, he was schooled twice by GSP (which I enjoyed immensely)& didn’t look that great against Chris Lytle. I’d like to see him step up to LH but it would be more of a sick fascination than anything else. Bisping Rules!!

Oh man….this would be sweet. Everyone should go to youtube and check out the grappling match he had with Tito Ortiz….Hughes lost by decision but being the MUCH smaller guy he held his ground. I think Hughes could do it. If he trains right and stays away from Shoguns strikes, he has a legitmate chance. He is as strong as a 205er, just much smaller. I really hope this is true and he kicks Shoguns ass. PS, I like Rua, but huge Hughes fan.
I sincerely hope Matt’s not serious about this. Before moving up I had that he would get to Matt Sera providing Sera looses against GSP. If he does move up, I really don’t think it should be all the way to 205lb and definitely not against Shogun. Besides, itsn’t Shogun injured still. He was suppose to fight Liddel in June but couldn’t due to an injury. I thought he was suppose to be out until at least fall or something like that.
Just watched that Hughes-Ortiz matchup on youtube, thanks for making me aware of it FixXeR very interesting, I may have to retract my previous statement……..about Hughes that is, Bisping Still Rules!!!!!!!!!!!!
I read an article where Shogun says he hopes to be back in September or October.

I don’t think he would really jump up to fight a top 10 fighter who will out weigh him by 20 pound when the fight starts. And bisping does suck
does matt hughes enjoy gettin beat down and embarressed? wat is he gonna do against rampage thats if he even makes it past shogun and since when does beatin a guy whos comin off a loss and surgery get u a title shot if he beats shogun then beats the winner of chuck vs rashad then mayb ill agree wit him gettin a title shot but beatin shogun alone doesnt do it for me but hey matt listen fight matt serra then b the rich franklin of the ww division(nasty but not nasty enough to beat the champ) and then retire to bein a coach and a farmer

Most likely a joke from hughes, but with anderson silva ya sure as hell know he ain’t going to 185. Though it would be coool to see him tool that clown pissbing.
