Adrenaline signs MMA heavyweight standouts Sylvia and Rothwell [Press Release]
NEW YORK — Adrenaline MMA announced today that heavyweight stars Tim Sylvia and Ben Rothwell have signed multi-fight contracts with the newly-formed promotion.
Sylvia (24-4) is a former 2-time UFC heavyweight champion, while Rothwell (31-5) was undefeated in the IFL for the champion Quad Cities Silverbacks.
Sylvia, 6-foot-8 and 265 pounds, has fought 13 times in the UFC and defeated top performers like Jeff Monson, Andre Arlovski (twice), Brandon Vera, Ricco Rodriguez and Assuerio Silva.
“Adrenaline is a new promotion, but it allows fighters to fight for other organizations… that’s huge,†Sylvia said. “I’ve got 3 to 4 years left and want to fight as much as possible, so this is the perfect choice for me at this time.â€
Rothwell, 6-5 and 265, has won 13 straight bouts, including all 9 of his IFL fights.
“Adrenaline will give me the chance to take things to the next level,†Rothwell said. “I’m ready to see how I fare against the best heavyweights in the world.â€
Sylvia and Rothwell both train at Miletich Fighting Systems in Bettendorf, Iowa.

Sounds like a ****ty start to a heavy weight division in my opinion. Does this promotion think allowing fighters to fight outside the promotion is the secret key to success in becoming the “next big thing?” Co promoting probably does have it’s benefits but this “big news” is more of a reliefe to me. UFC is my favorite MMA promotion and ridding of Sylvia is lovely. I know this is good for the UFC so I just wonder how it can be good for another promotion.

Silva gets to much flack. He is a solid fighter and has performed well for many years. He isnt UFC’s top ticket seller but his level of performance will be missed. The HW division is hurting for talent in the UFC.
Let me rephrase that; maybe not hurting for talent, but we need a HW that we could embrace as a champion and puts on exciting shows. Some what like we felt watching Randy during his comeback.In my opinion at this point there are not ant standout star quality fighters at HW.
The UFC heavyweight division is rapidly becoming a JOKE. The notion that “there’s more competition in the UFC” is a moot point when it comes to the heavyweights. And Fedor’s already owned Nog twice and Herring once. Heard Arlovski could be leaving soon too. Pretty soon, the UFC heavyweight division will be a bunch of no-names.
silva is one of my fav fighters cant belive the ufc has let him go i mean how **** is the heavyweight division now in the ufc, unless lesnar can come good its a very weak division
I always thought the UFC should’ve used this upcoming Ultimate Fighter for Heavyweights, instead of Lightheavyweight. The light heavyweight division is already deep. It doesn’t need anymore prospects. I think the UFC will have Rampage right at Heavyweight, along with every other fighter from that division moving up. The way things are going, the UFC will continue to lose it’s fighters.
silva needs to go back on the juice to be a solid fighter,with the boys.matt hughes should be back on also,long layoff.
