Jake Shields vs. Drew Fickett EliteXC Title Bout Cancelled
From ProElite.com:
ProElite.com has learned that the EliteXC Welterweight Championship bout between Jake Shields and Drew Fickett has been canceled. The bout was cancelled due to an undisclosed injury sustained by Jake Shields. The bout was scheduled to take place on the EliteXC/Strikeforce event airing on Showtime this Saturday March 29th. No word on whether there will be a replacement opponent for Fickett.
Fickett, 32-5 in his MMA career, is a seven-fight UFC veteran who had secured four victories inside the octagon. Following his last UFC fight, a win over Keita Nakamura in early-2007, he had won back-to-back fights in late-2007 to earn a shot at the EliteXC Welterweight Title.
Shields is a former Shooto champion and current Rumble on the Rock titleholder and has coached notable mixed martial artists Nick Diaz and Gilbert Melendez. He is 20-4-1 in his professional career and is currently riding a nine-fight win streak including his last fight, a November submission victory over Mike Pyle.

Has anyone else noticed the amount of injurys have increaced since the policing of steroids has gotten stronger. I know a lot of fighters used steroids to decrease the healing time of an injury. It’s a shame they can’t find a reasonable way to insure fighters.
I don’t know why but i don’t like Shields. To bad though i would have liked to see this fight.
seriously disappointed. anytime i get to see jake shields is a good time. but the pickup for joey villasenor replacing cyborg is pretty kickass.
