Even though we’ve been talking about UFC 72 in Ireland for upwards of one month but the UFC has now officially confirmed the event through their official website. The UFC event is entitled “UFC 72: Victory” and is indeed set for June 16th at 4:00. I last reported that the main event for the event between Rich Franklin and Martin Kampmann was not confirmed but I would presume it has now been finalized. The only other fighter that the UFC lists on the card is Forrest Griffin.

Also, the event has been confirmed to be for free on Spike TV according to this page which seems to now be customary for overseas events that don’t feature a title bout and which simply don’t make sense for a PPV broadcast. Right now the details and site are very sketchy as it was just recently added but expect more to become “official” in the next couple of weeks especially the main fights as well as the location, venue, and ticket info.
