From Sherdog.com:

Roan Carneiro and Ryo Chonan have signed to fight at UFC 85 on June 7 in London, sources close to both camps have told Sherdog.com.

The bout will be a rematch of a Feb. 12, 2005, meeting in Deep. Chonan (14-8) stopped the Brazilian on a cut in that first fight after landing a knee as Carneiro (12-6) tried for a takedown.

Decent match up here! Chonan’s the last man to defeat Anderson Silva (amazing flying loglock/footlock submission) and has international experience. Carneiro has only lost to Jon Fitch in the UFC and is developing rather quickly as a fighter. Should be a pretty good match!

cant remember the last match was it in the ufc?

Depending on ryo he could (not immediatley) end up in a rematch w/silva for the simple fact that he beat him before! kinda like how liddell was trying to avenge his only losses! who knows! all i know is if someone doesnt give silva any action soon they might have to resort to that!

Ryo will not get a rematch with Silva any time soon. For one thing, they are now in different weight classes, and for another he hasn’t fought a MW “contender” in the UFC.

Silva isn’t the same fighter that he was in 2004 when Chonan submitted him. The guy has evolved into a one man wrecking machine. His striking is second to none without question, but he has also demonstrated world class Jiu Jitsu in his fights along with good take down defence as we seen against Hendo (I said GOOD, not great). Chonan wouldn’t stand a chance.

Silva is calling out Roy Jones Jr. at the moment, which I find rather odd. Jones isn’t Mayweather and hasn’t been talking crap about MMA. Plus Jones is way past his prime regardless of his current win streak. For Silva, a fight with Jones proves nothing. For Jones, laying a beating on the best pound for pound fighter in MMA (yeah, the BEST, Fedor can lick it and so can Randy) definitely gives him bragging rights, although nothing more.

On another note, the Chonan/Carneiro fight is a great match up. I have a lot of respect for both fighters and it has the makings to be a great fight!
