Ken Shamrock Returns To The Cage Tomorrow Night
UFC veteran Ken Shamrock will return to MMA action tomorrow night in London when he faces Robert Berry in a heavyweight bout at Cage Rage 25. The event will be broadcast on Showtime and will also feature Ken’s 19 year old son Ryan Shamrock, who will be competing on the undercard earlier in the evening. According to a report from MMA Junkie, Ken Shamrock’s fight with the not so well known Robert Berry could also be more important than one might think:
“…A victory on Saturday could earn Shamrock a fight with Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson — during the first-ever EliteXC event broadcast by CBS.”
At 44 years old and having won only one of his past seven fights, Ken Shamrock could definitely use the exposure a major network has to offer. Ken’s last MMA performance was in October of 2006 at UFC’s “Ortiz vs. Shamrock 3: The Final Chapter†where he suffered a third TKO loss to former light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz. Naturally, Shamrock really needs to win this one if he is to keep any draw to his aging name.

OMG ARE YOU KIDDING. HE’LL GET DESTROYED BY KIMBO. THAT IS DEFINTLY NOT A GOOD FIGHT FOR HIM. HE’S A LEGEND AND JUST NEEDS TO STOP.
if this fight goes any kind of distance ken will end up submitting berry as he is a muscle bound guy who gasses pretty quick. but if buzz berry lands early it could be lights out for ken. i will be watching as this is a good card for cage rage.
Is this really a fight anyone wants to see, or Ken REALLY wants to happen (Ken v. Kimbo)?
It’s going to look more like Tito v. Ken IV, but probably faster and bloodier than the first 3.
I’m so tired of seeing Shamrock. I hope he does win and goes on to fight Kimbo. Slice would knock his head clean off his shoulders! Another has been hanging on way to long!
RIGHT! NO JOKE KIMBO IS OUT OF HIS LEAGUE. I THINK KIMBO NEEDS TO SIGN WITH UFC. THERE IS MORE TALENTED FIGHTERS THERE
this is wrong i hope shamrock makes it out alive and walks away before he runs into kimbo have kimbo fight someone whos under 40 and is dangerous on the ground send frank mir or werdum to fight him or keep throwin people past there prime at him and hell drop them in 20 seconds and ill cry at the wasted money
YZFOXRACING says:
“I THINK KIMBO NEEDS TO SIGN WITH UFC.”
EliteXC will throw their wallet at Kimbo, and he will stay steady. He is a young guy and they already are making hime the poster child. UFC needs to get off their high horse, or other fighters fed up with Dana’s decisions will have no problem jumping to Elite and their CBS contract. There are plenty of fighters that are on their way out of or no longer under UFC contract. I call it…Kimbo vs. Couture – 2009
I hope Ken wins on tomorrow. Ken’s a tru fighter. He just loves to fight! That may gethim in trouble because he is to old and way past his prime now and needs to hang it up. If he fights Kimbo, he needs to take it to the ground. He will have the advantage there with his superb submission skills. Honestly though, if he fights Kimbo, I really want to see Kimbo win the fight. You notice that they keep feeding Kimbo these over 40 fighters. I thought they were going to put Kimbo in there with UFC veeteren Buentello. He is a big banger and would a serious threat and a good test for Kimbo. i guess we will see what happens!
Kimbo is not that young at 34, but ofcourse they are gonna keep throwing bums at him so he keeps winning. Once he loses, everbody stops watching, and they make no money. I’m not a big Shamrock fan, but I am just hoping he can submit Kimbo somehow. Kimbo is a joke! Actually, i’d love to see him fight that other joke Mike Tyson and have them both beat eachother until they’re even more brain dead than they already are.
Kris,
I’m calling it…..Tito-vs-Kimbo probably by the end of the year. Tito is already talking smack about Kimbo. Elite has already expressed an insterest in putting the fight on. Tito’s coming up on his last fight with UFC in May. He could debut against some in Elite August or Setember which would set up a match with Kimbo in December. By then Kimbo could also get a couple more build up fights and devistating wins under his belt for developing purposeing and then through him in there with Tito! It would be a big fight!!!
Yeah, I’d pay to see Kimbo-vs-Tyson. however, again Tyson would be another over 40 fighter. They out to find Sean “The Cannon” Gannon who is the only person to ever beat Kimbo from his street fighting days and stage a rematch with Kimbo. When the fought the first time kimbo knew nothing at all about MMA style of fighting and the only training he did was lifting weights. Gannon was an active MMA fighter at that time and was properly trained in the art He even competed once in the UFC. The fight was LONG both guys took and gave HUGE shots. Gannon simply outlasted Kimbo being the better conditioned guy and ended up beating Kimbo up. now that Kimbo is learning MMA and is visually in MUCH better shape they should put that fight on! It’s an easy sell!
Why don’t they let him fight that Big Foot Silva? He didn’t really impress me much, but I think he’s 1 of their top tier Heavyweights. Hello put Ricco in their lol.
JAI – Ummmmm…. Kimbo’s a heavyweight, Tito’s a Light Heavyweight. Sorry to point that out.
Don’t expect Kimbo to drop 30+ lbs, or Tito to gain 30+ lbs to make this fight happen.
Unless Elite xc has some rule I don’t know about, Tito wouldn’t have to gain any weight to take on Kimbo. Tito fought at 205 in UFC as light heavyweight. 206 is heavyweight.
Sure Tito is a LH but so was Randy, I’m just saying I don’t think the idea is that crazy. I also don’t think Tito would want the fight.
shamrocks a light heavyweight as well and he gets to fight kimbo if he wins so I dont see Tito being any different, either way i dont see Ken beating Kimbo, I see Ken getting overpowered and knocked out
Tito also looked like the bigger man when he fought Ken, I wish I could remember what wieght class that was in, Lowcash or JustJoe do you remeber? I think Tito could be walking into his UFC fights at 225lbs, after rehydration. Tito may have a nice skill set to beat Kimbo too, I just get the vibe that he doesn’t need the money and he never has like to get hit. Good luck to Ken, I’ll watch but I’d like to see him hang-um up.
sorry JustJoe, reread you post, you got it right. My misstake didn’t mean to call you out.
odds are ken will lose. either way he he should never fight kimbo but he will, win lose or draw.
Ken vs KIMBO?!?!? WOW!!! I cannot believe people talk sh!t about UFC’s HW division. Elite XC becomes more and more of joke to me every time I hear or read these things.
ken shamrock is still fighting? i thought his ass would be in an old age home. these fighters need to stop hanging on to whatever they think they have left because they’re ruining the sport of MMA completely, whether it’s in the UFC, ELITE XC, cage rage, etc. i’ve only been a fan of MMA for the past 3 years or so, but i’ve really come to respect it and old ass washed up fighters like shamrock are making MMA a joke, i’m sure there’s a job in ringside commentary for you somewhere ken!
Shamrocks track record with heavyweights is very impressive and in the UFC he had injuries that he didn’t have time to heal properly.
He’s fully healed, back to heavyweight, let’s give a legend like shamrock a fighting chance to get back into the game, even at 43-44 ….
p.s How can you people say Kimbo would destroy shamrock, hes beaten bums and so far got beat by Sean Gannon, don’t let kimbo fool you, he hasn’t even come close to proving himself yet ………
Who is Ken Shamrock fighting tonight? I read on here he is fighting Kimbo, but on elites web site they say Berry.
Lowcash,
Tito wouldn’t be talking all that smack if he didnt want or was interested in making the fight some time in the future. He knows that it would be an easy sell and so does EliteXC. That’s why EliteXC has responded to Tito’s “belittling” comments about Kimbo by saying “we would love to put on that fight to give Tito to back up his words”. As far as the weight goes, no, Kimbo would not be asked to loose weight to make the fight, but Tito could easily gain weight to make it. To officlally fight in the HW division, all you have to weight is 207lbs or more. Tito normally comes in weighing 204lbs for his fights. So with that said, the weight is the LAST issue that would prevent the fight from happening. Plenty of fighters in the past have either went up weight or gone down in weight between HW and LHW in order to make the fights the wanted most to happen. Ken Shamrock started his MMA career at HW but has fought many times at LHW and has often fluxiated back and forth between the two divisions. Infact he’s fighting a HW fight tonight while being rumored to fight Kimbo next at HW if he wins this one. The same thing goes for Randy Couture and Vitor Belfort. BJ Penn is currently the 155lbs Champ in the UFC, but has competed in fights at 170lbs, 185lbs and 205lbs in his career. Sean Sherk is currently fighting at 155lbs, but started his career at 170lbs. Matt Linland fights at 18lbs, but has fought at both 205lbs and HW in his career. The bottom line is fighters do not mind jumping weight classes to make the fights they want to make happen (sorry to point that out)!!! Tito Ortiz is no different!!!!
shamrock should retire now. getting kod off berry leaves him with nowhere to go. its not nice to watch a legeng lose to a guy he probably would of took apart when he was in his prime.well done to berry and hopefully that can be then end for ken.
berry is a monster
berry is a big guy who hits hard but a 50 yr old dan severn put him away with a submission. and a 12 and 7 record doesnt suggest hes that much of a monster. i think this fight showed more about shamrock than it did about berry although he can only win it.
