I wonder if theMAN is aware that Josh Barnett was the UFC HW champ after defeating... hmmm who was it, oh yeah Randy Couture. There was a little issue with steroids but Josh Barnett has fought everyone, in the UFC and out. Gomi would be a step up in competition for Clay Guida who is a terrific fighter but would need to bring a seriously improved A game for Gomi.

Gonzaga may be a BJJ black belt, there buddy, but Josh Barnett is a world class athlete. His martial art is Catch as Catch Can Wrestling, which when mastered, is the ultimate martial art. It combines submissions, throws, takedowns, holds, locks, etc. Catch wrestlers don't wait for opportunities like Jiu Jitsu practitioners do. They create them. Gonzaga would get finished. TheMAN is just another example of an uneducated MMA fan aka a UFC Mark. Barnett isn't in the UFC because of one reason: Dana White.

gonzaga would need to improve on his last showing to beat barnett. he looked pretty poor against werdum so i dont really think barnett would be that worried about him. i really do wish that ufc had signed gomi though because there would of been some great fights for him.

Hey guys it's more to MMA than just UFC. There are TONS of great fighters out there that currently DO NOT fight in the UFC. Much to some people's disbelief, all the best MMA fighters are not all in the UFC right now. At HW you have Fedor, Barnett, Rothwell and Antonio Silva to name a few. At LW you have have Marshall, Stann, and Arona to name a few. At MH you Frank Shamrock, Chung Le, Dennis Kang, Matt Linland and Paulo Filho to name a few. At the lighter division you Condit, Gomi, KJ Noons, Faber, Akiyama, Misaki, Nick Thompson, Calvancante, Ishida, Melendez, Kawajri, and Ribeiro just to name a few. The UFC is just more well known at the moment (ecspecially in the US), but I look for that to change here shortly with the emergence of EliteXC/Stikeforce which is backed by SHOWTIME and linked with CBS. Plus if Mark Cubin the owner of the Dallas Mavricks is starting a new MMA promotion and you know he has all kinds of money to throw at the top fighters available. He's already working o Courture right now and with the "potential" departure of Tito, Arlovski, Tim Sylvia, Koscheck, and others from the UFC that could leave the door wide open for Cubin and some of these other promotion to be pushed to the forefront even more!

Craig,
Im with you on this one man! What REAL MMA fan doesn't know who Josh Barnett is or Takonari Gomi is. These are two of the best fighters in all of MMA sports period! Gomi is one of the best P4P fighters in the world (would love to see Penn-vs-Gomi 2 at 155lbs by the way) and Barnett has already been UFC Heavy Weight Champion by beating up Courture back when Randy was YOUNG and dominating the UFC HW Divison...but I guess only a real MMA fan would know this!

Rashad Evans has been moved from the UFC 84 fight card to now fight Chuck Liddell in London, England on June the 7th.

This light heavyweight bout came together shortly after the UFC announced the injury to Shogun Rua. Evans was thought to have signed on a deal to fight Thiago Silva but the UFC has the power to change fights for their better at the drop of a hat and that was that.

A source close to Evans says the agreement has been made but the deal has not yet been signed by both fighters.

Josh Barnett is EASILY a top 5 heavyweight in MMA. He holds a victory over BOTH UFC champs, Nogueira and Couture. He has only lost to 3 men, and holds a victory over one of them (Minitauro). Anyone who says he isn't an important part of MMA is just a UFC mark. And I know Barnett would rock anyone in the UFC. The only guy who can come close to beating Fedor would have to be Josh Barnett. And, thanks to the smart MMA promoters, we will most likely get to see that fight. (F&^K Dana White) Fedor is known for trying to avenge Aleksander's losses, and Josh holds a victory on him.... Hopefully it will happen. It's so funny how all these marks jump on the MMA bandwagon now, but still call the sport "UFC".
