Quinton “Rampage†Jackson will finally face off against Forrest Griffin at UFC 86 on July 5th in Las Vegas, according to Dave Meltzer’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Assuming the fight announcement holds true, by the time we see Rampage and Griffin meet in the octagon it will be about ten months since either last competed. Currently, Quinton and Forrest are busy taping the seventh season of The Ultimate Fighter which is slated to premiere on April 2, immediately following the special three hour broadcast of UFC Fight Night 13. Both UFC Fight Night 13 and The Ultimate Fighter 7 will air on Spike TV.

BIGGG FORREST GRIFFIN FAN I HOPE HE BEATS RAMPAGE AND GETS THE TITLE AS EVERYONE KNOWS GRIFFIN LOVES TO BOX HAS SUBMISSIONS IN HIS ARSONAL BUT LOVES TO TURN IT INTO A BOXING MATCH BUT IF HES NOT CAREFUL WE MIGHT SEE SOMETHING SIMELAR TO THE GRIFFIN JARDINE FIGHT I HOPE NOT!!!! GOING FOR FORREST GRIFFIN ALL DA WAY
griffen can not box nor do he have submission talents. he lucked up on a ill shogun. bottom line griffen is talentless
Whoever thinks Griffin is going to win, I have a bridge that I’m selling.
I’m a HUGE Rampage fan! But Griffin is a very LIVE underdog here. He does indeed have talent or else he wouldn’t even be in the UFC no wouldn have beaten Shogun who was considered at that time to be the #1 fighter 205lbs and he choked him out! Not only that, but he pretty much controlled the entire fight even during the stand-up. Griffin’s hands may be a little faster than Rampage, but if Rampage lands one of those “bollo shots” that it could be nightie night just like Liddell! If my boy Rampage isn’t on his game and in shape, I can see Griffin winning a 5 round decision.
smitt da rock u r talking rubbish there mate if forrest had no talent he wouldn’t be fighting for the title even tho i think rampage will own him im still a forrest fan and will be cheering him on. forrest has the best skill in mma and that is heart!
after all the upsets we’ve seen recently, the only thing anyone can do is wait to see what happens. although it seems like rampage is a huge favorite, i still wouldn’t bet on this fight because forrest is the type of guy that won’t quit.
Ive got Forrest on this fight.
what about teeto ortiz v. saliva?
Thiago Silva will be the 205lb champ once he gets the chance. He should fight theICEMAN next, now that would be an interesting fight.Thiago will tear up the205lb division guaranteed.
rampage is the man! forrest is tough so its a hard fight but i think rampage has looked a far better fighter since joining ufc so im gonna give him the edge in this fight.
Forrest has got heart and has improved his strikings where he can put in a few combinations. But the way I see it, Forrest’s punches are like mosquito bites. His fight with Stephen Bonnar is like two flocks of mosquito fighting. Rampage might get mosquito bites poisoning only if he is tight to a chair alnight long. Rampage is at least 2 classes above Forrest. He just need to punch at Forrest’s elbows a couple times and then will apart. BTW having heart does not help when your fxxking bones are all broken.
They were both training out of Randy’s gym here in Vegas together, until recently. Throwdown opened a gym here two weeks ago so Rampage trains there now. As for Forrest’s ground skills, I have personally rolled with him and watched him tap a BJJ black belt. He is no slouch. His wrestling is at least as good as Rampage’s but the money comes when you stand and bang. That’s why Chuck was in 4 out of 5 of the highest grossing fights here in Vegas according to NSAC.
Rampage will win this contest, but he should enjoy holding the belt while he has it. Silva will move up in weight and make UFC history by holding both the 185 and 205 belts.
I agree MMAN.. In theory look at it this way:
Henderson took Rampage 5 rounds to a decision, then hendo gets tapped in the second round by Silva. So in theory Silva should KO or submit rampage in the 3rd or early 4th round.. Ha Ha
I like the way you think! Silva is truly in a class of his own. There is talk of a GSP/Silva matchup but this will never happen. If this ever did take place it would be a short painful night for GSP. Dont get me wrong. I think GSP is awesome but he could never compete with the likes of Silva.
If this fight was such a lock then why are they fighting? If your good enough to be in the ufc then your good enough to beat anyone on any given night!
Why is who fighting?
MMAN how with a name like that can u say GSP has no chance v’s silva im guessing with that name ur trying to point out you no what ur talking about wen it comes to mma but to say gsp would have no chance i think u should change it to WWE
Okay Johnboy. I give GSP credit for his very impressive skill but Silva has destoyed every fighter he has faced in his 8 fights since joing the UFC. He has not lost since 2004. He is the real deal. Obviously you would rather debate over the choice of a screen name than discuss true fact on any fighters talent.
mate i rate silva as the best p4p fighter in the world but that doesn’t mean hes unstoppable and gsp in my eyes is the 2nd best p4p in the world so for u to say silva would make gsp’s night short an painful i find very funny as u can never right a fighter like gsp out
I agree that GSP is great, but Silva walks around at 200lbs and is 4 inches taller. GSP has that division wrapped up. Silva wont cut weight and fight at 170, but if he did I truly believe he would make quick work of GSP.
BUT ANYWAY LETS TALK ABOUT THE RAMPAGE AND GRIFFIN FIGHT. FORREST IS GONNA UPSET RAMPAGE I’M FOR GRIFFIN
Rampage vs Griffin. If Griffin shows the type of self control and maturity that he displayed against ShoGun then he has a very good chance at pulling this one off. He will most likely lose the first two rounds but he can weather the storm then he could pick up the last three rounds with his ever increasing skill set, secound to none conditioning, and one of the biggest hearts I have ever seen.
He is so exciting to watch and I really cant wait to see this one unfold.
i think griffen should fight liddell and then who wins between them, they fight jackson
NAWE, GRIFFIN HAS EARNED HIS PLACE AT THE TABLE AND HE NOW NEEDS TO PROVE HIMSELF. I THINK YOU HAVE THAT REVERSED; IF GRIFFIN WINS THEN A RAMPAGE/CHUCK REMATCH IS IN ORDER. CHUCK IS GREAT BUT THIS IS STILL A SPORT AND THE BATTLE TESTED FIGHTERS NEED A CHANCE IN THE SPOT LIGHT.
I think the Pride guys had octagon jitter i.e. Shogun, Henderson, Cro cop, V Silva and even Rampage (he admits to it but lucky because he had an easy first fight).
Which is why there so many loses. Forrest vs Shogun fight. Well, let’s say it could have been different in a different place.
I just hope that lil’ Leave-it-to-Beaver-looking Forrest Griffin chump doesn’t cry again.
RAMPAGE WINS IT IN THE SECOND ROUND
I THINK FOREST IS GUNA TAKE IT. HE HAS A STEEL CHIN AND HAS NEVER BEEN KO.HE HAD A FIGHT STOPED ONE TIME AGAINST KEITH JARDENE AND THAT WAS BY A REFEREE STOPPAGE BUT THAT WASNT THE FOREST WE ALL KNOW. FOREST IS A ANIMAL IN THE RING WHEN HE STEPS IN THERE HE TURNS IT ON, FORESTS CONDITIONING IS BETTER THAN RAMPAGES AND IS MORE WELL ROUNDED. IF FOREST CAN AVOID THE EARLY KO HE WILL TAKE OVER THE LATER ROUNDS AND HE WILL WIN THIS FIGHT
I’m 50/50 i have no idea who will win yeah sure Rampage is a quality fighter and we all no forrest is the underdog but is’nt he always? Did’nt we all say ‘tito’ was gonna kick his ass all over the cage? and forrest took him to the limit and it was the same with ‘Rua’ so why not Rampage aswell?
I AGREE WITH THE FACT THAT FOREST IS THE UNDER DOG BUT HE ALWAYS IS AND WHEN HE IS THE UNDER DOG THAT SEEMS TO LIGHT EVEN MORE OF A FIRE UNDER HIS ASS
go griffin. I hate rampage and everyone from his camp.
All of you who think Forrest Griffen can’t fight or has no talent are obviously blind,go back to watching the WWE!!!!!
Most of u are ignorant. Saying Griffin is “talentless” is just plain stupid, he wouldn’t be in the UFC if he was. Secondly, saying he doesn’t have a chance is even more retarded. Anyone that can get in there and throw a punch can win a fight. Although Griffin is the smaller sized opponent he does have a slight reach advantage, has good stand up, and great submissions, especially compared to Jackson. He’d be the first to tell you that. With Jackson having more punching power he’ll look to keep it standing and has a wrestling background to keep Forrest from taking him down. Though most fights end up on the ground in some point of the fight, thats where Forrest will have the best chance of winning the fight. I see the fight possibly going to distance with Forrest winning split decision. If not then Jackson by KO or Griffin by submission by the end of the 3rd.
Griffin for sure not a guy to overlook, he has awesome talents as you guys mentioned but Rampage? dude this guy is animalized and powerful. I don’t think Giffin would be able to take off his punches, his boxing is not as good as Rampage’s but if he manages to get the game on the ground or use his legs, then we can see some action. It’s going to be an exciting one anyway
What Savage said is true about talent. One of the reasons I like the UFC and MMA in general is that it isn’t lopsided like boxing. With the massive pool of talent, the greater range of available techniques, its hard to say sometimes who will come out on top and I think thats where the realism comes in.
Jackson has brutal power. Griffin has great ground skills. So I think that pretty much sums up who will win where.
I wish UFC would not require gloves and that more emphasis was placed on precision and power kicking by UFC fighters, so there would be less boxer vs wrestler type breakdowns.
A power kicker could wreck havoc on Jacksons slow lower torso. But of course Griffin is no power kicker it seems.
I KNOW GRIFFIN WILL DO WELL, LOOK WHAT HE DID TO SHOGUN, A LOT OF PEOPLE DOUBTED HIM THEN. IF YOU DOUBT GRIFFIN THIS TIME, GO BACK TO WATCHING THE WWE!!
I just wish you guys who want to bash Griffin would learn how to spell. I can’t hardly make heads or tails out of some of this stuff….
oh yeah, Griffin wins by K.O.
UMMMMM….THIS IS FOR THE GRIFFIN BASHERS….BOOOOOYAH….HE KICKED ASS!!!!!!!! Forrest, baby I LOVE YOU—-YOU ARE THE MAN!!!!!!
So… who won
Yea who won and how?
