Frankie Edgar has been forced to withdraw from the upcoming UFC Fight Night 16 “UFC Fight for the Troops” card with an undisclosed injury. Replacing Edgar on short notice will be Jim Miller (12-1), who will now meet fellow 155-pounder Matt Wiman on the Spike TV-broadcast main card.

UFC Fight Night 16 takes place on December 10th at the Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville, North Carolina and will serve as a fundraiser for the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund.

Miller, a former Reality Fighting and Cage Fury Fighting Championship lightweight title-holder, suffered his lone career loss to Edgar in late-2006. Since the defeat, Miller has won seven-straight fights, including an IFL victory over Bart Palaszewski and a win over David Baron in his UFC debut at UFC 89 in October.

After losing his UFC debut to Spencer Fisher at UFC 60, his third loss in four bouts, Wiman appeared on The Ultimate Fighter 5. Despite losing in the quarterfinals of the lightweight tournament to eventual runner-up Manny Gamburyan, Wiman has racked off four-straight UFC victories, including his most-recent win over Thiago Tavares in June.

“UFC Fight for the Troops” is headlined by Josh Koscheck vs. Yoshiyuki Yoshida and also features Mike Swick vs. Jonathan Goulet.

    Wiman picks up the win.

  2. hockeysucks says:

    Should be a good event

  3. dbiz says:

OMG! Why do they always get hurt? The UFC is slave drivers and they can’t keep doing this to their poor fighters!!!!111oneoneeleventy!1

Ok, now the trolls have nothing to say.

  4. justin says:

    dbiz,
    You forgot one….

Another fighter gets hurt, yet again the UFC promised this great fight and at the last minute they take one of the fighters off. What a rip off. I’m tired of them doing this. I can’t believe they would do this, they should give back the money to the people that bought tickets to this event (oh wait, its free to Army guys…and the 30 tickets they sold went to charity) and they should discount the PPV price (oh…its on spike, nevermind).

    ;) :D

  5. dbiz says:

Damn. I knew I shouldn’t have left my troll slippers with the spiked purple hair at home…

  6. bsbiz says:

Go back under your bridge, you nasty, midget troll.

  7. surfingk5 says:

Bummer, I think FE is working his way to be one of my favorites. Too bad.

  8. johnboy says:

this sucks for wiman a win over franki would put him up there, a win over jim miller back to were he was b4 the fight a loss to jim miller contract riped up

  9. surfingk5 says:

johnboy you really think he would have won over FE?

  10. johnboy says:

i think he would of had a very good chance, i dont rate FE as highley as most people, it was a hard match to call but if i was put on the spot ide say wiman,

  11. surfingk5 says:

I guess that brings back an interesting comment someone made I think last week. They were bagging on the UFC either not having some sort of rating or ladder system to basically “rank” the fighters.

So for my ignorant questions of the week….

I’ve not seen a ranking system for UFC. Is there one? If there is where can it be found?

If not, how do they determine who fights who? Other than morbid curiousity and the “he should get the next shot”.

There are abviously those that are in line to fight for a title. But what about the rest?

All I ask is to be gentle if I sound like a total idiot…**eager waiting for an answer in a dark closet embarassed cause I should probably know this S**t**

  12. justin says:

    surfing,
To my knowledge there is no ranking system, I would thank that if they had one you would be able to view it on their website.

They determine who fights who based on who Joe Silva, and Dana White think should fight each other, and also whether or not the fighters agree to the fight.

  13. surfingk5 says:

Any legit reason why they don’t?

  14. johnboy says:

from what ive seen on who gets the shots, its who ever gets an upset ie lesnar/herring forrest/shogun evens/liddell, or who ever comes in with a good rep like dan henderson his 1st 2 fights in the ufc were for the 205 belt and the 185 belt, im sure that pissed alot of fighters off

  15. Joey D says:

Johnboy , when hendo came in to the ufc he was holding both mw and lhw belt for pride , which is the only reason his first 2 fights were for the belt.
