Miletich To End Two Year Layoff, Headline Adrenaline 2 Against Thomas Denny

By: Kris Karkoski (admin) | Nov 2, 2008

Pat MiletichPat Miletich will again exit “retirement” and return to active MMA competition for the first time in over two years when he takes on Thomas Denny in the headlining bout of Adrenaline MMA’s second event on December 11th at the iWireless Center in Moline, Illinois.

The matchup was first reported on the latest edition of HDNet’s Inside MMA.

Miletich, the founder of Miletich Fight Systems which has trained the likes of Matt Hughes, Tim Sylvia, Jens Pulver, and Robbie Lawler, is a former UFC lightweight tournament champion and welterweight title-holder. After initially retiring following a loss to Matt Lindland at UFC 36 in 2002 Miletich returned in 2006 for an IFL super fight against Renzo Gracie, losing via first-round submission and temporarily re-entering retirement.

He’ll return to action to face Denny, a former King of the Cage champ who most-recently competed in EliteXC, notably losing to Nick Diaz via second-round TKO at the promotion’s nationally televise June event.

Ben Rothwell and Ryan McGivern are also slated to be in action at the event, with the status of other Adrenaline MMA notables Tim Sylvia and Edie Alvarez unknown at this time.

  2. Fr702 says:

Why aren’t my comments being posted?

  3. Fr702 says:

Well I went on this thing on how Miletich v Renzo was dissapointing to say the least.. I hope Pat wins his last fights rather than lose them, he is a icon, I hope he doesn’t ruin his name by pulling a Ken Shammy Shamm on us

  4. fixxxer says:

    The King is back!

  5. Fr702 says:

Hells ya FixXer I hope he does great I miss his dominace

  6. dbiz says:

Who? Just kidding. Don’t flame me.

  7. JDubb says:

He is fighting a chump… come on… fight sum one better…

  8. dbiz says:

For real. He’s only coming out of a two year retirement. He should be fighting BJ Penn or GSP.

  9. Us And Chuck says:

Will he end up back in the UFC if he is successful………..i wonder.

I hope Pat is 100% physically and mentally it would be horrible if ends up like Ken :(

  10. fixxxer says:

He will never come to the UFC. Another Dana White fued. One of the reasons i dont care for Dana. Pat is THE first welterweight champion of the UFC….held almost as long as Hughes…..won lightweight tournys for the UFC….VERY dominate. Now…Go to UFC.com. Search the word Miletich…nothing. How did Shamrock get into the UFC HOF and not Pat?? Pat is way more diserving.

  11. timcat says:

Thats right Fixxer he does deseve to be in. Dana holds stupid immature grudges. Miletich don’t need the UFC and the UFC don’t need him either.
    Highly unlikely.

  12. Fr702 says:

I do believe that the UFC needs to reconize more of the “greats” in their HOF and Miletich should be up there, also someone needs to find Jimmerson’s lone boxing glove and induct that shh too

  13. T3chn3tnium says:

its cause dana has a big head.. he doesn’t even own ufc..

  14. JinIowa says:

That was an awesome fight. I’m proud to say I was there. He really smacked him. And the finishing flurry was very impressive as Pat continued to attack and land even as Denny was falling to the ground. Kinda reminded me of the end to Penn & Sherk’s last fight.
