Cro Cop Postpones Surgery To Rematch Overeem on New Years Eve
UFC and PRIDE veteran Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic will require another surgery to repair an injured knee, but will postpone the surgery until early-2009 to rematch Alistair Overeem at K-1 Dynamite!! 2008 on December 31st in Japan.
Cro Cop made the announcement in a recent interview with Dnevnik.hr.
“I’ve had several operations this year, and I’ll have to undergo another one straight after the NYE event. It’s frustrating to have to undergo all these operations but that’s the sportsman’s life. Many others have had it worse then me,” said “Cro Cop” (translation courtesy of FanHouse). “The fear of defeat is major motivation for every fight — not necessarily wounds or physical pain. It can become an issue when you’re on a losing streak.”
The first meeting between the heavyweight veterans ended in a no contest after Overeem hit Cro Cop with multiple accidental knees to the groin.
In other Dynamite!! 2008 news, Kimbo Slice may rematch Seth Petruzelli on the New Years Eve card.
CC is not having the greatest year of his carrrer, I’ve enjoyed his fights for years now he needs to put together a few impressive wins I would like to see him do that

I was hoping Kimbo would just disapear. Someones back yard on a 10ft chain where he could piss and s**t on himself instead of on mma.
I’m only interested in watching him fight someone legitmate. Seth may not be so lucky a second go. Too bad Kimbo doesn’t have the balls to fight someone of his caliber…what a douche.

Man at least Dream wont put Kimbo vs. Petruzelli as main or co- main event they know the real fights go at the top of the card!! Cro cop vs. Alistair overeem that fight needs to finish its like cote and silva its not over till someones down!!! i cant wait @segablack overeem is a good fighter no question but he should move back down to Light heavyweight that’s where all the action is!

Maybe he just reminds me of the old days when you’d pull the local badass off a bar stool and throw him in the octagon, but i like watching Slice fight. In my opinion he should be outed and humiliated by a fellow fighter instead of the media and fans.
I also have really enjoyed watching Cro Cop over the years, I hope he’s not over doing it at this point. Randy took the time off he needed and when he knew he was back to prime form came back with a vengeance, I hope that Cro Cop isnt jumping the gun just because he’s anxious to get in there and re-prove himself. Id like to see him kick some more heads off and make a better showing in the ufc hw division.
I do agree with you on this though surf, they should match Kimbo up against a well rounded and respected fighter so that his hype could be tested or put to rest in everyones eyes.

knew there would be a rematch. overeem has been looking good lately but cro cop still has it in him. i hate how everyone assumes a fighter sucks just because they have a couple losses. look at how bad cro cop lost to randleman and he came right back on top winning the open weight tournament. crocop needs to use his double jab and low kicks to keep overeem at a distance and set him up for a high left kick that sends overeem on the mat flopping around like an infantile retard. as for kimbo i think he will do better but still lose. hes good but not even close a top fighter. thompson should have beaten him before. that was not a lucky hit by petruzelly. he knew exactly what he needed to do against a bigger opponent. one more thing. what is it with fighters liking cro cops groin so much?
