Dana White Offers Kimbo Slice Spot on The Ultimate Fighter

By: Kris Karkoski (admin) | Oct 28, 2008

Dana White Press ConferenceDuring the post-UFC 90 press conference UFC President Dana White offered Kimbo Slice a spot on an upcoming season of The Ultimate Fighter reality series, but cast doubt that Slice, who recently suffered the first loss of his career to TUF veteran Seth Petruzelli, would emerge victorious from the heavyweight tournament.

“He can be on The Ultimate Fighter. What’s he done other than get 10 million hits on YouTube? What’s he done to deserve to be in the UFC? Nothing,” said White. “I don’t consider him a real athlete. He won’t win The Ultimate Fighter. The offer’s out there if he wants to take it, (but) he won’t win it.”

Though White said the UFC could tailor an upcoming season of the series to feature heavyweights to allow for Slice’s participation, the mention was merely White’s latest jab at EliteXC and it’s former star fighter, whose main event loss earlier this month was the final blow that put the promotion out of business.

I hope Kimbo takes the offer. I’d love to see him get submitted by some no name in the first fight.

  2. regoillin says:

It’s pretty much his only chance to be in the UFC.

  3. Us And Chuck says:

Here are the Kimbo Fanboy rebuttals :

“Kimbo is a warrior, **** Dana”

“Kimbo is money, **** Dana…..Kimbo will clean up Japan”

“Kimbo will win TUF he is that good he beat Tank for **** sake”

“Bas will turn him in to the MMA version of a prime Mike Tyson and he would also beat Tyson”

“Kimbo does not need the UFC he is bigger than the UFC”

“Ref disqualify him Seth was hitting the back of his head !”

  4. MC84 says:

I think ratings would be huge if were to do it

  5. oldman says:

If kimbo doesn’t take this offer he is done in MMA. This is his one and only chance to prove #1 that he is a legit mmartist that wants to be in the sport and #2 that he isn’t ducking “actual” legit mmartists. Then again he probably won’t becuase his entourage couldn’t come with him.

  6. yzfoxracing says:

OH HELL YEAH THE RATINGS WOULD BE THROUGH THE ROOF… I LOVE TO SEE HIM ON TUF.. IF HE WINS THAT WOULD BE COOL HE WOULD GAIN MY RESPECT. BUT THEN AGAIN I DON’T THINK HE’LL TAKE IT… HE DOESN’T LOOK LIKE SOMEONE WITH SELF CONTROL. HE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO DEAL WITH NOT BEING ABLE TO SMOKE.

  7. MC84 says:

Lol it would be an interesting season for sure… hopefully he takes it!

  8. Us And Chuck says:

Surely Kimbo is bigger than TUF ;)

  9. yzfoxracing says:

SO I HEARD THAT CHUCK/ANDERSON SILVE ARE RUMORED FOR UFC 94 I BELIEVE IN FEB 21ST

  10. Dirty says:

I agree, I don’t think Kimbo is worthy of the UFC but he definitely won’t agree to the Ultimate fighter show…….. especially when big promotions like Affliction, Strikeforce or possibly Dream would offer him big bucks.

  11. MC84 says:

Silva vs chuck? dang chuck is in for big trouble. Could he afford another loss?

  12. oldman says:

Yah, whatever i like the look on Chucks face when he gets ktfo. I just think it’s his patented overhand right that keeps knocking his ass out. ahahahaha

  13. Us And Chuck says:

Yeah chuck will get knocked out……again.

For me Silva should grow some balls and fight a Wandi or a Shogun instead hiding in the MW division :)

  14. surfingk5 says:

Well it certainly won’t ever happen but, HOLY **** if it did. He wouldn’t make it to the end but, I agree ratings would be through the roof. I’d watch just to see his final out on mma.

Either way, Kimbo, don’t let the door hit you on the way out. I’ll never support a felon.

  15. Fr702 says:

Kimbo won’t take this TUF offer, but perhaps it would be good, from a learning aspect.. I just don’t think he will do it..

Chuck v Anderson hmmmm interesting possibilities

Silva won’t fight Wanderlei or Shogun or Machida anyone from Black House or Chute Boxe… Wanderlei and Anderson are still friends and won’t fight…

  16. mma_k9 says:

”For me Silva should grow some balls and fight a Wandi or a Shogun instead hiding in the MW division”

‘Us and chuck’ i am one of Wandy, Shogun and Ninjas biggest fans, infact i love the whole of, what used to be Chute Boxe…they were the reason i started fighting Muay Thai to begin with. I’ve watched them ever since they started out in Vale Tudo. It pains me to even say it but Wandy’s fighting style is tailor made for someone like Anderson Silva. Anderson would pick apart with reach and technique and just piss wandy off into making bad mistakes. I hope and pray im wrong but thats how i see it.

A fight i think would be sick is Wandy vs Griffin or Shogun vs Chuck….these are fights i’d love to see.

  17. kouch says:

    YZ,

Good lookin out. Chuck is F-n stupid, crazy, dumb and brainless. He doesn’t stand a chance against Silva. Chuck needs to talk to a psycho therapist of many sorts.

Kimbo would be good for TUF. He could bring a lot of viewers who “thought Elite XC” provided quality MMA and do not understand the difference in talent when it comes to the UFC. In other words, The UFC could teach fans who do not know what real MMA is all about. As far as the business side of things go, Kimbo is a glod mine for TUF. Even if he lost his first fight…..their would still be a **** load of viewers. He is still a draw for some unknown reason….. Kinda funny to go from HEADLINER to TUF competitor expected to lose.

  18. M3 says:

Kimbo should stay away from the ufc whats the point working for someone who hate’s your guts and will only F*ck with your job!
why would the give that washed up chuck liddell a shot at the one of the sports best fighters in the world, chuck has no place in that fight besides ratings that a bad match up in every way! if the ufc keeps putting on these horrible match ups just so they can get ratings then there no better then EliteXc.. like Brock vs. Randy … a perfect example on how weak the heavyweight division is there putting brock an early fighter with only 3 fights and he lost one of them he got talent not like kimbo but hes does not get a title shot on a ufc record of 1 and 1. this WOULD NEVER HAPPEN to any other fighter in that league. its just because of who he is!
and what to do with give chuck a lower level fighter so he can work on his game, and save Silva for a fighter that will bring something to the table in the form of a challenge and the ratings will come anyways!

  19. 2girls2cups says:

i highly doubt affliction would touch this guy, there’s no point considering they already have alot of hw talent. strikeforce maaaaybe but i doubt he’ll make any real money there. and i was unaware that dream had anyone fighting above like 60lbs, lol. one possibility is that he’ll end up in pro wrestling for a short while but honestly, i think this is the end of the line for kimbo’s fight career, he might get lucky and still get a few commercials or something but in 10 years i guarantee we look back and go “ohhhhh ya, that guy”.

  20. oldman says:

How do you match silva against anyone though. I’m not one of these guys who think he’s unbeatable, becuase i know i’ll take heat for this but i don’t think cote had him kind of perplexed. Chuck in his prime would have been a perfect match up for silva. It’s going to take a stand up guy with lots of strategy and a solid chin. Cote did have the perfect game plan, it’s too bad his knee blew becuase i would have liked him to show how good he is in the later rounds. Back to chuck though, he has little to no game left. His sprawl and exceptional striking was what made him dominate for so long. Now he doesn’t stick to his counter game and his attack is lack-luster at best. Stick silva in there with a technical striker, with a legendary chin and a legit ground game. Only two name come to mind “cote” and “hendo”. Joe Silva knows what he’s doing it’s just hard when the guy is next to unstoppable.

  21. Us And Chuck says:

Before the Cote fight i would tend to agree MMA_k9

But if Silva believes his own hype it looked like it Saturday a Wandi or Shogun would beat the arrogant version of Silva.

A Cote or Hendo match would be interesting but i would love to see Thiago Alves step up to MW and fight Silva IMO i would go with an Alves win if Silva believes the smoke that Dana is blowing up his backside to be true some one is going to knock him out :)

  22. fixxxer says:

Kimbo made a few hundred thousand in the elite XC….i doubt he fights for nothing in the UFC. He fights for money….he is a greedy bastard…he doesnt fight for the sport. Even when he was street fighting people were paying upward to $25000 to fight him. TUF and Kimbo will never happen.

Chuck and Silva is an interesting matchup. I know its not the same iceman….but he is still very good at getting out of things. Silva has never had to fight someone with chucks power, but then again, Chuck has never fought anyone as accurate and quick as Silva. While he may not get laid out like he did against Rashad…..he would defiently get chopped down. I really like Silva….but lost alot of respect from him not finishing Cote. He could have finished that whenever he wanted to.

  23. timcat says:

Two day old news. Kimbo is a joke.

  24. timcat says:

He wouldn’t take the pay cut anyway

  25. E-ROC says:

Wow, what a way to welcome a possible fighter into your stable. Let’s just insult Kimbo on the way in and on the way out, because that is good business.

  26. dbiz says:

Fixxer, the only thing Chuck is good at getting out of these days is his own game plan. Well, that and getting his lights put out. He’s close to washed up and will end up Hughesing or Shamrocking himself if he doesn’t realize he can’t hang with the kids anymore.

Also, if Silva refuses to fight Wandi or Machida, or anyone they put in front of him he instantly loses all credibility as a champion and I will refer to him as Anderson Noons from that day forth.

  27. dbiz says:

e-roc, Kimbo doesn’t want the UFC and the UFC doesn’t want Kimbo. Nothing wrong with that.

  28. oldman says:

OUCH, DBiz i will admit that ducking your friends is kinda weak, but honourable in the same breath. It’s not that he’s ducking, it’s that these guys have a kind of creedo umongst eachother. Anderson won’t fight them and they won’t fight him. plain and simple.
