Matt Hamill vs. Resse Andy Nearly Finalized For UFC 92

By: Kris Karkoski (admin) | Oct 24, 2008

Matt HamillLight heavyweights Matt Hamill (4-2) and Reese Andy (7-3) are likely to clash at UFC 92 on December 27th in Las Vegas, according to MMA Junkie.

UFC 92: The Ultimate 2008 features a trio of marquee bouts as Forrest Griffin defends the light heavyweight title against Rashad Evans, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira puts the interim heavyweight title on the line against Frank Mir, and former champions Wanderlei Silva and Quinton Jackson go toe-to-toe in a light heavyweight rematch.

An three-time Division III champion wrestler and cast member on The Ultimate Fighter 3, Hamill opened his professional career with three straight UFC victories over Jesse Forbes, Seth Petruzelli, and Rex Holman. After dropping a highly controversial split decision to Michael Bisping, Hamill rebounded with a TKO of Tim Boetsch, but next suffered another setback, losing to former middleweight champion Rich Franklin via third-round TKO at UFC 88 in September.

Andy, a three-time All-American at the University of Wyoming and an IFL veteran with notable wins over Krzysztof Soszynski and Kala Hose, was defeated by Brandon Vera in his UFC debut at UFC Fight Night 14 in July.

Cool! I was really looking forward to watching two guys lay on each other. I am glad they set this up. Actually, I think hamill is an interesting fighter but after RF kicked that deaf bastard in the liver and sent him home I have less expectations for him.

  2. Fr702 says:

I expect this to be an undercard match,
Hamill is still “green” in MMA and definately Rich was too much for him he should be better this time around the UFC is going to give him plenty of oppritunities to be sucessful imo

Thanks for the input, Junie. Next time, let’s not show up for weigh-in that overweight and maybe you won’t be even MORE boring than that.

  4. Eye-Rhyme says:

man this is a weak opponent, imo, for hamill. I think he should have got a better opponent, his only REAL loss came to rich, we all know that hamill won bisping. I think he deserves someone better, i would have liked to see him fight bonnar, or irvin, but andy??? I don’t know about this one, i’m pulling for hamill. I think he will win by TKO!

  5. oldman420 says:

    he is right though.
Dry hump fest in the making if i’ve ever seen one.

  6. UK_Chris says:

this is going to be dull. hammills a great wrestler, but thats about it. im picking reese andy for this one.

  7. dbiz says:

Ground = boring. Nice. Aren’t you supposed to be cutting yourself because $kala is out of a job?

  8. oldman429 says:

Ground does not equal boring. Wrestlers with limited ground and pound and very little jj game = boring.

  9. johnboy says:

lol at spOOner1234 “RF kicked that deaf bastard in the liver” funny stuff, suprised people haven’t jumped all over u tho for that, people seem to love hammill on here

thats pretty harsh spooner, id like to see you attempt to step into the cage, let alone with a disability which doesnt allow you to hear your corner…

i think hamill is an amazing fighter when you look at what he has to overcome, as for his overall skills, he needs more… we can all agree on that, part of his lack of skills comes from his disability, its not easy to train without being able to just talk to the guy…

  11. timcat says:

Looks good on paper. I will take Hammill on this one.
