Brian Stann Off UFC Fight Night 16 Due To Foot Injury
Former WEC light heavyweight champion Brian Stann (6-1) has been forced to withdraw from his scheduled rematch against Steve Cantwell (6-1) at UFC Fight Night 16 “UFC Fights for the Troops” after suffering a foot injury, according to Five Ounces of Pain.
A replacement for the bout has not yet been named.
Stann, a former marine, defeated Cantwell via knockout just 41-seconds into their meeting at WEC 26 in early-2007 but Cantwell evened the series at one apiece when he knocked Stann out in the second round of their 205-pound championship meeting at WEC 35 in August.
UFC Fight Night 16, which takes place at the Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville, North Carolina, is slated to be headlined by Josh Koscheck vs. Yoshiyuki Yoshida and Mike Swick vs. Jonathan Goulet. The event will air live on Spike TV as a special three-hour presentation and will serve as a fundraiser for the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund.

this cards sick even without this fight. wiman vs edgars gonna b fight of the night
WOW , what a shock ……the UFC has cancelled another fight . that never happens in the UFC …..oh ……wait a minute .
Stop trolling, ucares. Fighters get injured. It happens. They have plenty of time to find a new fight to fill that spot.
ucares?,
WOW, a guy got hurt training, what a panzy, he should fight anyways, regardless of the fact that the state athletic commission will likely not let that happen. The UFC should kick him out of the organization because he’s a stupid panzy that got hurt training and messed up their card. They should also refund all the money the fans paid to have cable to get spike to watch this event, give all the sponsors back their money for the fight, and give spike back their money that they paid to be able to air this event. That might make up for the terrible thing they have done by not having this guy fight because he got hurt, even though Cantwell will likely face someone else, and the card will likely not have any less fights.
Or maybe that would be a little over the top. Their fans never react to fights getting canceled in an over the top way… oh… wait a minute.
Justin …… you are making people not want to be here with the non stop pro-UFC crap . look man , I like fighting and i like to watch .I dont like it when fights are constantly being cancelled by the UFC . It happens EVERY fight card .They cancel more fights than anyone else , and thats a FACT. Why do they continue to promote Couture -lesnar when they are already both hurt ? Because its another way to get people to buy in then cancel out . Do you watch the fights or just try to make people resent you ?
ucares - No one “buys in” until the day of the fight. Not until you press the buy button on your cable or satellite remote. So them promoting still means…guess what…
It hasn’t been canceled. That’s it. As far as why it happens every card, perhaps because fighters are punching each other to get ready for a fight and someone got hurt.
You say you guarantee it happens more with the UFC than anyone else. I think Affliction has canceled more this year than anyone else, what with the whole CANCELING TWO ENTIRE SHOWS thing.
You don’t “just love watching fights.” You’re a troll. You’re here to stir things up. the problem is you aren’t good at it.
The Lesnar-Couture PPV is worth buying even without that fight. The EXC wasn’t worth watching, not because of the quality of the fights but because there were 15 minute commercial breaks between each fight. Almost 3 hours for 5 fights (none of which were more than 10 minutes of fighting) WITH commercials is crap.
I’m tired of you.
Yes I do watch the fights, no I don’t just try to make people resent me. I am not putting forth “non stop pro-UFC crap”. I do think they are the best organization in North America by far. Its not the organizations fault a fighter gets hurt, and besides do you really think they want guys hurt all the time? Do you think the fighters don’t want to fight? They make more money off of PPV than they do the gate at the venue, you don’t pay for the PPV until the night of the fight, at which point you’ll already know that a fighter got hurt, and can make an informed decision whether or not to buy that PPV. Besides that, I doubt that the absence of Brian Stann on the card for UFN 16 is really going to affect if they can sell out a 10,000 person arena in Fayetville. Or that the absence of the Lesnar - Couture fight will cause them to not sell out in Vegas, if that were to happen. Its fighting, and to train for a fight you have to fight, and therefore can get hurt, just like football(American) players get hurt in practice, the only difference is you can still have two football teams play each other minus a few players because its a team sport, MMA is an individual sport. You can’t have Brian Stann fight Steve Cantwell if Brian Stann isn’t physically able to fight. I’m done with this arguement, and probably done arguing with you. I like this site and I’m not going to help you make it less enjoyable.
ucares? = Dr. Doom
He’s just trolling the site looking to pick fights. He said he was leaving, but we’ll see. If he does make another appearance I’ll simply delete his comments and if he continues to post them I will ban him from the site. It’s obvious what his intentions are and it’s not something we need on our site.
Thanks Kris.
No problem.
yes thank you
