Diaz, Neer, Sakara, and Gouveia Earn UFC Fight Night 15 Bonuses
By: Kris Karkoski (admin) | Sep 19, 2008
UFC Fight Night 15 competitors Nate Diaz, Josh Neer, Alessio Sakara, and Wilson Gouveia each took home a $30,000 bonus for their performances at Saturday’s Spike TV event in Omaha, Nebraska.
In the evening’s main event Diaz topped Neer via split decision in a technical main event battle and both fighters received Fight of the Night bonuses for their efforts.
Knockout of the Night went to Alessio Sakara who survived an early barrage to take out newcomer Joe Vedepo with a head kick knockout.
Wilson Gouveia received Submission of the Night honors for his armbar victory over Ryan Jensen midway through the second round of their preliminary bout.

nice little bit of change for them …… an extra 30 g’s comes in handy
where can I find fighters’ payouts for Fight Night 15?
a wouldnt mind a bonus like that, gotta say thay deserve every penny!
Diaz - Neer was a great fight, but I don’t see how anybody could give Neer 2 rounds in that fight. That’s the ridiculous kind of scoring that cost Hamill a victory that he earned against bisping.
Here is an interesting article about the Diaz brothers after the fight: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/mma/09/18/nick.diaz/index.html
I enjoy watching those guys, but what in the heck is wrong with them? It would be great if they had an ounce of class and dignity. But I guess they just weren’t raised that way. I guess their parents don’t have any class or dignity and that’s the way they raised their boys… too bad.
Dolfan,
I love the Diaz brothers. They can say anything they want. They have a ton of character and people just get offended by their vulgarity. The way I see it:
Nick opened his mouth long ago talking smack about Diego Sanchez, lost to Diego and then answered when asked if he thought Diego was a good fighter, “No I really don’t.” He was a sore loser no question. Then the ball kept on rolling and getting bigger. The reputation has been past on to Nate for defending and acting similar to his brother. Brother’s should stick together no matter what. Sucks for Nate because I think he has a great opportunity to have an extremely successful career(be a champion) but if he is not careful, he will burn bridges and ruin his career with his mouth. My mouth has F-d me over plenty of time so I am speaking from experience.
Um, the Diaz brothers are from LA right? Get off their asses. They could be in a gand knocking off liquor stores and doin stuff…n-things. They are fighters. Talking **** is apart of the game!!! Plus, they’re pretty damn fun to watch. They’ve made the best of what life has handed them and they’re ridin the wave, man…I think they are great!
I enjoy watching both of the Diaz boys as much as anybody else. I think Nick could beat just about anybody. They both have a lot of character. Neither of them have any class. Neither of them have any dignity. You can’t cover everything up with saying they’re fighters. So what? There are a lot of fighters that don’t act like that. As far as praising them for not being criminals, that’s the minimum standard for any citizen no matter what he does for a living. Being atheletes should teach them something about sportsmanship and integrity and self-pride. I guess they missed that day.
Don’t misunderstand me, Nick is one of my favorite fighters to watch. The guy submitted Gomi, for crying out loud. He’s the real deal. He just needs to learn how to act in public.
I think that’s part of it man. It’s simple to me, they are fighters. Like Liddell said, (I’m paraphrasing because I’m not smart enough to remember exactly what he said!) they are not fighters because they are stellar citizens. I do understand what you’re saying however…fighters are a different breed. When you have the balls to step into a ring after months of training knowing that you are going to get in a fight, I think you have a right to say whatever the f you want. At least they’re not like pro, basketball-football felony players…yet
The Diaz brothers are from Stockton, CA, SurfingK5
They are very well trained forsure you don’t have to like them nor respect them as people but Nate is outstanding in the Cage, Nick has lost passion and has become a premadonna imo yet is still talented in his own right
Gomi will destroy him if he can get his hands on him again imo
stockton la same same
I don’t know about Gomi destroying Nick… Nick is pretty good himself. He beat Gomi before and I don’t see why he couldn’t do it again. As far as respecting them, I absolutely respect their ability to fight, but they are also human beings. Their fight careers are pretty short and after that they’ll have to be part of society like everybody else. They haven’t earned any respect as human beings yet. It’s time to grow up. Being a man means conducting yourself like a man.
O they haven’t realized “how to become men” forsure… The Gomi thing is just my opionion we can disagree on that no worries…
I thought that Schaefer deserved Submission of the night. That arm triangle was sick.
Agree with Timcat
@SurfingK5,Stockton and LA are very far apart in distance and many other aspects… But hey whatever
I agree that the arm triangle was nice….but look at who it was against, Alexander is not exactly known for his BJJ, if he had been any other fighter he would seen that coming a mile away. I haven’t seen the Gouveia submission yet, haven’t found it online yet.
In regards to the Diaz’s behavior. GSP is a fighter and he is an upright guy, always respectful. Not to mention he would beat either one of them. The same goes for Anderson Silva, Forrest Griffin, Randy Couture. You can pretty much go down the list of the who’s who in the UFC, and you’ll find guys that are good guys that aren’t always trying to start something, granted there are some exceptions. The Diaz brothers, as far as I know, are the most disrespectful classless guys in the UFC. Nick got in a fight with Joe Riggs at the hospital after losing to him for crying out loud.
edit…nick is not in the UFC… should say major MMA promotions.
