Couture Could Fight Lesnar In November, Emelianenko In Early-2009
UFC heavyweight champion Randy Couture may be on the verge of resolving his contract dispute with the UFC and could return in November to take on heavyweight contender Brock Lesnar in the main event of UFC 91.
Additionally, if he gets past the former collegiate and professional wrestler Couture’s hopes of fighting Fedor Emelianenko could become a reality in early-2009.
The latest developments, on the heals of Friday’s news that Couture would be willing to return to the UFC, were reported by Bloody Elbow, Dave Meltzer, MMA Rated, and MMA Junkie in the last 24-hours.
If an agreement is in fact reached the new deal, which would replace Couture’s previous contract and result in the UFC dropping all breach of contract claims against the UFC hall of famer, could be announced as early as Tuesday.

i think ufc 91 will be a great card with randy and brock as the main event…
this will really be an interesting brawl…
it is tough to say who would win…
if randy wouldn’t have took so much time off i would have to choose him…
but since its been a while i think brock will have a bit of an edge…
as far as the fedor fight..im tired of hearing about it…
i can careless if it happens…
there is too much hype around it..and i think it will not turn out to be satisfying to the fans…
Randy Couture runs the best gym in the United States. The guy has had time off from fighting, not training. Lesnar doesn’t stand a chance against Couture. This is a very poor decision on behalf of Brock’s career. But I know he only wants to fight the best.
I would love to see this fight though, that’s for sure.
Wow! Really! After all the drama around Couture and him never fighting for the UFC…guess he has relized that he really has no choice if he wants to fight before the end of this decade. Brock Vs. Couture should be very interesting since one fighter is on his way up and the other on the way out! Age might be the deciding factor in this fight n we all know Randy is not getting any younger. If Couture gets past Lesnor and for some strange reason a fight is set up between Couture and Fedor, Fedor will crush Randy…That Mega fight if it happens is occuring 7 years too late.
normally lesnar wouldnt stand a little chance against couture but couture hasn’t fought in like forever! but still couture will probaly win
Well the UFC isn’t handing Brock push overs are they…. So if Randy wins he gets Fedor huh? Ok well if he does win, he fights Fedor in Montreal on the same card as BJ v GSP… Why; unless Fedor fights two more times for Affliction before he fights Randy their fight cannot happen on US soil, I believe that Fedor has a no compete in the US in his contract

Wow! I hope Brock destroys that greedy punk. I know Randy is a legend but what he did to us fans by not fighting for the past year+ is not cool with me. If it was for rest or something like that (GSP style) I guess I could tolerate it but it was strictly for money so piss off Cpt. America.

The question is, can Couture deal with Lesnars size and strength. Couture is great at coming up with a game plan for a fight, but he’s always had problems with the bigger guys that can wrestle. It’ll be a super close fight, with little things in each round deciding who the winner will be.

couture is old. both good wrestlers! lesnar is the stronger one. couture is better skilled one. couture havent fought in forever so will be good fight it would be really bad on couture to lose then he wouldn’t fight fedor probaly..
randy will crush him. i think its a bad move. let him fight big nog.when he focks up lesnar, so what who cares. randy too good for this. dont get me wrong the ufc is the sht but this is not right for randy or lesnar.
well randy hasnt fought in a year which will make a big impact on him and besides this gives a huge chance for lesnar if lesnar some how manages to win he will get a title shot!
Randy is not going to crush Lesnar. Give Lesnar a little more credit than that. He’s definetly not going to knock him out, and it’s gonna be hard to tap him out unless Brock makes a mistake like the Mir fight. I’d say a decision is much more likely.
this is pretty exciting news for us fight fans, but I will believe it when the words come from dana white, we’ve all heard so much bull**** about what randy has been planning to do or fight for a year now that it is starting to become tiresome and less of an issue as time go’s on, so **** or get off the pot randy
Tough call, lesnar is a beast, but I certainly thought gonzaga was gonna kill him after what he did to crocop and look what happened!!! you can’t ever count out couture.
What’s the point of this fight? Has Lesnar really earned that opportunity to fight Couture? No. Let Lesnar fight the giant Frenchman Kongo and have Couture fight Verdum or somebody. What happens if Couture loses to unestablished star like Lesnar? I may not be able to see Fedor vs Couture.
Couture has more cage experiance but I wouldn’t call him a better wrestler or a better technician.It take skill to move the bigger wrestlers weight too.Brock has been training for along time now.And say what you will about sports entertainment Brock is one heck of an athlete to pull off half the physical techniques in his performance pieces for WWE. Randy is 16-8 and two of the wins are Gonzaga and Tim. Tim had major back problems and Napao wasn’t ready for the shot.

I hope Randy fights better than he acts. I just watched his movie and it is horrible. He should resolve his contract dispute and get back to fighting. He certainly should not be acting.
I’m not dumb enough to say Couture isn’t good, but it’s my opinion that he’s ridiculously overrated and got the special treatment to his last road to the title. Lesnar will beat him. If by some freak accident he doesn’t, Fedor will KILL him.

Randy is a world champion greco roman wrestler. He’s won several tourneys for the military. But Brock is a nation champion free style wrestler. Brock will shook Randy will clinch, I think Randy has the technique to take brock down if they get the Clinch but it’ll be hard for Randy to defend the shot with Brocks speed and power… I dunno… I dunno
Don’t forget you minus the broken nose (caused by a headbutt) Napo had and it might be a different match. I think its a bad match for Randy. They are both wrestler with Brock being stronger. Which means when Randy shoots in like he did against tim he will get stuffed. It should be an interesting fight.
Can Randy get by Lesnar? Randy at 45 and Lesnar at 31… Lesnar is no slouch… Lesnar finished his amateur career as a two-time NJCAA All-American, two-time NCAA All-American, two-time Big Ten Champion, and the 2000 NCAA heavyweight champion with a record of 106-5 overall in four years of college. Randy certainly has credentials too, but Randy is 45 and he’s facing a monster in Lesnar that isn’t as skilled in MMA, but he’s learning everyday. This will be a tough match for Randy to get through in order to get his arm ripped off by Fedar.
ya its definately not a walk through just on brocks size n strength with his wreslting ability randy might have a problem and as far as the match up it makes lots of sense they dont want to risk randy beating noguiera and then leavin the ufc right away they are hoping he loses to brock n makes him a big star and if randy wins they had a big ppv seller n then see what to do with him

Randy could not FINISH Tim Sylvia in 5 rounds, yet Fedor finished Tim in 36 seconds. The writings on the wall Randy. Stay with the movies!

he is an elite wrestler and can cause many problems 4 randy…

and brock is not a person u fight after you have tooken a significant amount of time off…
if randy does win…i do not see him winning easily…

and by the time the fedor fight rolls around randy will be out of gas…

Lesnar is too heavy and too fast. Lesnar should fight guys his own weight to make it fair.
As much as i love randy, he doesnt deserve to fight lesnar. he should be fighting BIG NOG to unite the belts, i feel it is a lack of respect to the belts and noggy. and he doesnt deserve to fight fedor, he just wants that last big paycheck before he retires.
