“Shogun” To Return In December, Verbally Agrees To Fight “Rampage”
UFC light heavyweight contender Mauricio “Shogun” Rua will return to the octagon in December and has verbally agreed to fight former 205-pound UFC champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson at UFC 92 on December 27th in Las Vegas.
Rua informed Tatame of the matchup on Sunday.
“I’m back to training. I’m doing some Muay Thai and Jiu-Jitsu stuff, and thanks God everything is fine nowâ€, said Rua. “I’ll be back in December… They said that I might fight with Quinton Jackson, but nothing has been signed yet. They called me ad offered a fight with him and I accepted, but they didn’t say anything else more.â€
With the matchup not yet official Rua is hopeful that Jackson will be recovered and prepared to fight in December.
“[Jackson's legal and health issues] surely can be a problem, but I want him back in December and against me,” said Rua, “and I believe he can be back.”
In their first meeting Rua dispatched Jackson via first-round knockout at PRIDE Total Elimination 2005.
Rua has not fought since being defeated by Forrest Griffin in his UFC debut at UFC 76 in September 2007.
Jackson, who had won his last six-straight fights, was defeated by Griffin via unanimous decision in a light heavyweight championship bout at UFC 86 in July.

Lets go rampage! I hope he can recover from all of this and KO Rua. Hopefully Liddell get forrest to so he can ko him. This would set uprampage and chuck so rampage can ko chuck again and take his belt back.
i so hope this fight happens both these guys just got whooped by forrest so they will want to prove themselves again, i got rampage by k.o but i must admit i dont no that much about shogun as im a ufc natzi an haven’t really seen any fights out side the ufc, i no what shogun is all about tho but im yet to see it i just saw an out of shaped guy gass an get choked by forrest,
This is gonna be a great fight if everything happens.
No chance rampage is gonna win this fight, shogun is gonna knee him to a TKO victory like last time.

This is a rematch that I would like to see but would rather see Shogun vs. Jardine and Rampage vs. Brandon Vera instead of the Pride guys fighting each other all over again.
Rua v Jackson, not half bad iam concernd for whomever loses this fight, jokes aside Jackson has to keep his collective sh*t together if he loses, and Rua would have lost his only two fights in the UFC and then what? But when u were the once thought #1 in LHW division u have to fight the best well atleast top ten guys and that’s what is happening imo….

I really don’t want either guy to lose. If Rampage loses his mind again from a loss I’ll be one unhappy MMA/UFC fan. If Rua loses I fear his status in the UFC. Hopefully we get a war and fight of the year……not likely in this match up but we can hope.
not as exciting as the kimbo/shamrock fight, but still sounds cool, hahhhaahhahaha. i agree with kouch, both these guys are top contenders and as good a fight as it might be, it is risking one of their reputations since after this fight one of them will have two losses.
The only reason shogun gassed against forrest is that he had a staph infection and couldn’t train right. He will regroup and have a repeat of his 2005 fight against rampage (rampage got KTFO in the 1st round for all you UFC nazis).
I don’t get your logic guys. I realise having favourite fighters but why wouldn’t you want them to fight, just in case one looses? The UFC has to maintain a certain level of prestige, the only way to do that is to get their top guys into the cage, unfortunately this time its gonna be at Rampages expense, haha.
than you for addressing us ufc natzi i hope ur right, i would love to watch other mma shows an learn about other fighters but we dont get that in the uk so thats why im loyal to the ufc haha

Seriously i hope Rampage does not take this fight i think he needs time off not fighting Shogun.
If they do fight if the Rampage that beat Chuck & Hendo turns up i expect a Rampage win.
rampage has just let the new found fame go to his head now that hes been brought back down to earth with the defeat and the arrest i think we will see a new and improved rampage which spells bad news for the 205 divison. poor rua is guna end up on the undercard haha
Rua is one of the top guys in the world. The loss to Forrest aside, yes he did have staph infection but it is no excuse. He took the loss like a real pro and didn’t lose his mind. I think Shogun knocks Jackson out in the second round. Remember Pride rounds were 10 minutes for the first round, 5 for the others.

yet, rua has the advantage on rampage..because im sure rampage has lost focus..and is probably mentally out of it due to his rescent encounter with the law…..
but in the end..i see rampage coming out on toppp!!!!
Not a must win but close to a must win fight for Shogun, he needs a good showing to keep his prestige and reputation up. But of course he could lose this fight and in the UFC’s eyes as long as he knocks out Jardine then he will get a shot at the belt like a certain other Pride fighter is rumored to be getting.

rampage will knock rua out like he did chuck. rampage isn’t the same fighter he was back in his pride days…he’s a much better fighter since he is training with professionals instead of ametures. if this fight happens rampage will come in as motivated and determined as he was when he beat chuck. you could see before that fight that he wasnt gonna get beat. even though i like chuck just as much i was hoping he would ko rampage. but regardless you could see it in his eyes and you will see it again if he fights in december.

as for silva getting a title shot in december…no way. he isnt deserving of it just yet. i could definitely see him fighting sokoudjou, machida, thiago silva or vera if any of them are willing to fight that soon after ufc 89. but as for him fighting griffin for the belt, not just yet. i think chuck gets the next title shot as long as he beats evans.

ya i know i bet rmapage is gonna win but maybe not hes going a lttle crazy but maybe he will go crazy and throw a million ko punches on rua and drop him fast.. idk le have to wait and see what happens
