UFC 90 Nearing Sell Out
More than 80-percent of the nearly 19,000 tickets for UFC 90 “Silva vs. Cote”, which takes place on October 25th at the Allstate Arena in Chicago, Illinois, were sold within hours of going on sale, according to the Chicago Sun-Times, generating a live gate in excess of $2 million with 3,000 of the higher priced tickets still available.
“This is a bold statement in a town with the White Sox and Cubs and the Bears, but I guarantee you this will be the most exciting live sporting event you have ever seen,” UFC President White told the Sun-Times. ”I can’t explain it to you. You have to experience it. Chicago is the biggest pay-per-view market for us, and ratings for Spike TV’s The Ultimate Fighter reality show are huge in Chicago. We’re going to beat WrestleMania as the highest-grossing event ever at Rosemont.”
UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva takes on 185-pound contender Patrick Cote in the UFC 90 main event. Welterweights Diego Sanchez and Thiago Alves are also slated to clash at the October 25th event.
Cote to win by KO in the 1st !!!!

Stop trying to get angry/negative reactions out of people. Cote is far from Silva’s toughest opponent. Silva is better at every part of the MMA game in this match. Cote will have to be very very very very very very very very very lucky. Someone from his corner may need to bring in a steel chair to stop Silva.

I agree Kouch. I disagree on your anti-golf remarks on another post. Still angry about that, but this is true. I would love to see some lucky crap happen and Cote win, but the chances are slim to none. Probably another 1 or 2 minute fight. I see a punch or knee rocking him about 45 seconds in and the fight ending up on the ground where poor Cote has absolutely Zero chance of not getting submitted.
I’m only 3 hrs from Chicago and I’m going to watch this one on PPV. Not too crazy about the card. Where are the LHWs?
did anyone see cote’s plan for silva? he said hes going to push the pace and keep going forward with silva….anyone else think this is probably the worst plan ever? This fight won’t make it out of the first round, but it will be fun watching anderson silva dominate another opponent…

Swick was just added to ufc 90 and should be fighting one of his aka boys, kos or fitch. Fitch not likely because he was just decapitated by my boy, but i seriously can’t think of a suitable opponent. Karo’s fighting mortal komat dude, diego and thiago are fighting, who else in the ww division is there other then kos? I think it’s g@y that “friends” don’t fight eachother. Like how sick would it be if anderson made a run at the lhw title? But he isn’t cuz “that’s lyotos belt”.
I dont think Cote has a chance against Silva to be brutelly honest. I personally dont believe Cote could handle even Henderson, Franklin or Marquardt. Fair play to him beating Almeida, but his other victories are against guys who are no-where near Silva’s level.
Silva lets not forget has wiped out 185lbs (and Irvin), and i’d rank all of Silva’s opponants higher than Cote. Maybe not Lutter, but even he has a victory over Cote. I rest my case. And after seeing Silva make knocking out Irvin (the big punching boxer like Cote) look as easy as taking a piss…

Alves V Sanchez looks very exciting. Alves looked bloody dangerous against Hughes. Which is a shame cus I dont really like him, nevertheless, Alves TKO in the 2nd or 3rd.
Griffin and Sherk looks great to…however I think Sherks experiance will come through. Sherk by decision.

How can you not be crazy for this card??! The card is AWESOME…minus the main event… I think Almeida would have gave Silva a better fight than Cote will…this will be over in the 1st…but the rest…wow…Alves vs Sanchez, Griffin vs Sherk….those are GREAT fights….either could easly be a headliner over this one…
If Alves wins, he should get GSP and if Griffin wins, he SHOULD get Penn but I bet he gets the winner of Florian and Stevenson…THEN the winner gets Penn…

Yeah, this is a bunch of crap. I wanted to buy $100 tickets. they went on sale at 10am, and I got on at 11am…..they only had $500-$600 tickets left. I cant see myself paying that kind of money unless I get head from the ring girls as well.

But i wont write him off especially after Serra beating GSP last year.

well Cote got the shot because Okami broke his hand, Kampann isnt ready yet, Bisbing is scheduled to fight Leben, Silva just beat Hendo & Franklin twice (Franklin now is moving to LHW) i think they wanted Almedia to win but that didnt happen soo they are “feeding” Cote to Silva so he can defend his title one more time this year keep it and wait for 2009 to defend again because then u will have Okami,Bisbing/Leben, Henderson and perhaps a few more fight ready for Anderson @ MW then, does Cote deserve this title shot no i dont believe he does but atleast the UFC can see what kind of ppv drawing power Anderson has fight this guy… thats just what i think happend tho
