Burkman vs. Sell Signed For UFC 90
By: Kris Karkoski (admin) | Aug 16, 2008
Welterweights Josh Burkman and Pete Sell have agreed to clash at UFC 90 on October 25th in Chicago, according to MMAJunkie.com.
UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva takes on 185-pound contender Jon Fitch in the UFC 90 “Silva vs. Cote” main event.
Burkman (9-6), a contestant on “The Ultimate Fighter 2″, is 5-4 inside the octagon and has dropped back-to-back bouts to Mike Swick and Dustin Hazelett.
Sell (7-4) upset Phil Baroni in his UFC debut at UFC 51 in early-2005 but was defeated in his next four straight UFC fights by Nate Quarry, Scott Smith, Thales Leites, and, most recently, Nate Quarry at UFC Fight Night 11 in September 2007.

Wait…What?! Silva vs. Fitch. When was this announced. This will show if GSP is worthy of fighting Silva. This is huge!
i think that is a miss print mark, cote is fighting silva, sure kris will sort it soon
should be an intresting fight i think burkman is comeing off a loss to swick so both guys need a win which should make for intresting viewing
Thanx Johnboy,
hahah…..I would actually be more interested if it was Silva vs. Fitch though. Fitch proved that he is one bad motherF’er. Cote still has a lot to prove in my mind.
yeah cote is guna get beat down bad, quarry or bisping would beat cote not to mention hendo an rich, im hopeing grove can get back on track now i like the kid and hes tough as nails. the 185 could get intresting with some more fighters dropin down or up, ide like to see alves come up to 185 but dont think thats guna happen we hes on track for a crack at GSP
The only reason I can see that cote got a shot at silva without beating a top ten opponent is because the top guys have all already been beaten by silva (with the exception of Bisping as much as I hate to admit it, but he hasn’t beaten a top 10 either so lets see him do it and Leben barely fits that requirment).
i wish that they would have given the “shot” to Kampmann, Cote v Silva doent inspire me at all, because Silva has destroyed the MW division, and Okami has broken his hand cleary wont be able to fight for the title the UFC ( Joe Silva) should have given Kampmann a shot… he is a really good striker and he can submit people quickly has a Hell of a chin as well but hey whatever its Cote fighting…
Im not the biggest fan of Drago or Burkman but these two should put on a good show fighting one another, because the that gets defeated will soon be in a small little show and he will reffered to as a “UFC vetran”…
Good point FR702….I’m so sick of other orgs banking off of the UFC Vet tag.
How do you call that…
Uhmm…
Lame!
I cant wait for Shanchez v Alves
T.L. Mark,
could u imagine Buffer saying ” and in the blue corner this man is a street fighter with a record of 4 wins, zero losses and 1 no contest he is a EliteXC veteran Kimbooooooooo Sliceeee”
hahahahahaha that would be ridiculous, my point here is that UFC would not ever do that, the say Heath Herring is a PRIDE vet because they own that name, and it is getting tiring to go to the “local MMA” event and hear that constanty!!! but the Fighters have to make money and promoters have to promote sooo the “UFC vet” thing is not going away anytime soon, soo be it iguess.
o and the record of 4-0-1NC is hypothetical just kinda threw #’s outthere
ok fight…
I thought Sell was huge at 185. Can he cut to 170?
Silva is going to destroy Cote. It wont get out of the first minute.
