Fedor Emelianenko “Ready To Go” By New Years Eve

By: Kris Karkoski (admin) | Aug 12, 2008

Fedor Emelianenko Submits Tim SylviaWAMMA heavyweight champion Fedor Emelieanenko will be healed from his recent hand injury in time to compete by New Years Eve, reports Sports Illustrated.

“I think definitely by New Year’s Eve I’ll be ready to go,” Emelianenko told SI. “My desire at this point is to meet with the winner of the fight [between Arlovski and Barnett], but I still have a desire to fight with whomever loses as well.”

Emelianenko was to fight former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arloski in the headline bout of Affliction 2 on October 11th but was forced off the card due to a lingering hand injury re-aggravated in his first-round submission victory over former UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia in July. Emelianenko was ultimately replaced by Josh Barnett and the winner of the main event matchup will take on “The Last Emperor” for the WAMMA title down the road, but not on a potential New Year’s Eve card.

Recent rumors about Emelienanko’s next opponent centered on a rematch with PRIDE and UFC veteran Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic but, according to the report, Emelianenko will instead fight a “judo legend or sumo wrestler” at the New Year’s Eve event.

Judo legend or sumo wrestler, yayyyyyy, no Randy fight i guess, atleast he is keeping to his tradition of fight NYE in Japan…..

  2. yzfoxracing says:

WHO CARES….. I CAN CARLESS AT THIS POINT…

  3. johnboy says:

WOW we get to see a three way tornie fedor, arloski and barnett, big f*cking deal, all affliction r doin is the same fighters every show, randy should be off his ufc contract by then get that fight sorted or just shut up.

  4. The Rob says:

true. with the rumours of what the UFC is getting together for NYE, I really can’t see Affliction doing anything spectaclar. At least this means Dec 27th will be about $40 cheaper!

  5. UFC fan says:

y cant randy fight fedor already i want to see rady kill fedor

  6. suck my nutz says:

Fedor or Alex would destroy the entire ufc’s roster
the only fight for Fedor would be Anderson Silva!!!
    that would be good

  7. FR702 says:

if Fedor does fight some judoka or sumo on NYE,it really wouldnt come of much suprise he fought a GIANT Dec 2007, plus his hand is hurt again (PRIDE GP 2006 i think) im not trying to undermind Fedor’s dominance at all but damn man fight real MMA fighters, then again the Japanese enjoy “freak show” entertainment i guess and Fedor will get paid very very well im sure so to will Finky~boy

  8. RJA says:

I don’t care to see fedor vs crocop, arlovski,or barnett.crocop got his as s whipped in UFC,arlovski lost to silvia twice and barnett beat coture once.So no i don’t give a sh it

  9. yzfoxracing says:

    RJA…
SINCE WE CAN CARE LESS ABOUT ALL THIS GARBAGE. DOES THAT MEAN WERE NOT TRUE MMA FANS… CUZ GET READY CUZ PEOPLE ARE GONNA GO OFF ON US

  10. aznstar_inc says:

And it already begins, you spend a ton of cash on a handful of fighters and this is what you get. If that stacked card drew 100K how many people are gonna spend $40 bucks to watch Fedor beat some random Japanese guy? Over under 40,000 buys? I’m going under. Especially if they go head to head with the UFC that weekend. I am pretty sure if affliction goes head to head with UFC. Dana stacks that card. It will Be GSP Penn, Nog Mir, Shogun Rampage, Wanderlei, and maybe even forrest Chuck if they just want to make sure affliction get zero buys. I can’t wait to see how this plays out

  11. FR702 says:

YZ, hey you stuck to your word for almost three days and im glad to see the caps back

RJA, i would like to see Fedor fight AA and Barnett personally, i also dont think its going to happen anytime soon, he seems to fight someone “credible” every two years or so, then just goes off and makes money off of his “freakshows” so be it, iguess

  12. yzfoxracing says:

LOL ITS DRIVING ME CRAZY WITHOUT THE CAPS

  13. zac says:

so what would happen if Affliction put on a Fedor/Randy card in violation of Randy’s UFC contract? They would probably get sued…but i guarantee that they would make waaay more money than they would get sued for.

Plus that would make their whole “banned” theme even better. the promotion that doesn’t give a sh*t about Dana White. I really hope they stick around, because they are making the UFC better.

  14. aznstar_inc says:

Yea I’m pretty sure the UFC doesn’t sue for a couple million. I’m sure they try to take everything from Randy and all the revenue from the fight. So probably not the best idea.

  15. Leo says:

I would love to see Anderson Silva whip this guys ass and be done with it!!!! Over Rated…

  16. zac says:

i bet they couldnt take anything over randy’s purse and 20% or less from the total event…but the marketing/hype/free advertising would be worth that…they would just have to figure out an under-handed way to pay randy.

also…if you think that anderson silva could beat fedor…you should probably go watch his fight with Chonan again. or maybe watch any mma fight with fedor in it.

  17. del says:

good point zac, but really what ever happened to the big randy and fedor event that was going to be the greatest match of all time, now he wants to fight a sumo or judo expert, WTF! By the time they get around to doing it nobody is gonna give a sh1t anymore and randy will be getting ready to collect pension

  18. del says:

I think couture would win in a cage but would get his arse kicked in a ring

  19. Leo says:

You dont think Anderson could clintch is ass and rain kness all over his big out of shape ass..Anderson could hang with any fighter at any weight class bottom line

  20. zac says:

lol…anderson is a badass, and i bet he could clinch and rain some knees…but after Fedor was done laughing it off, he would break that toothpick in 5 places =]

  21. aznstar_inc says:

1st I’m pretty sure the UFC would go out of its way to make sure that they get nothing for trying to violate a contract. And I’m pretty sure the Judge would be hella pissed that you would so arrogantly think you could do this while they were ruling on it, they would give evrything to the UFC.

And I think anderson silva is a monster. But Fedor is just to big and to strong for that. He would be moving up 2 weight classes to fight a guy who would still be 50 to 60lbs heavier. The same way I know GSP can’t beat anderson. to much power, to much size difference.

  22. Dave, Md says:

If this card hold up its gonna be a great NYE fight card

Georges St-Pierre (c) vs. BJ Penn
    UFC Welterweight Championship

Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira (c) vs. Frank Mir
    UFC Heavyweight Championship

    Mauricio Rua vs. Quinton Jackson

    Wanderlei Silva vs. TBD

  23. zac says:

you could be right…i just dont think they wuold be able to get everything, our legal system is complete BS. If you have enough money, you’re going to get off with minimum penalty.

The only thing i can see happening is all of the athletic commissions on USA banning Affliction for violating contracts that are pending court rulings.

  24. segablack says:

Sweetness its going to be a goos December to new years shows to look forward too.

if anyone thinks fador is more over rated then Anderson Silva then they have not done there home work. if you compare fight records fedor defiantly has the better. theres not point and even debating it. because Anderson Silva has lost way more fights the fedor so yeah. what to fight about if anyone want to see what i mean just look up Anderson Silva vs.Daiju Takase at pride 26… now do you really think Anderson Silva would EVER last against Fedors ground game, and you must remember that fedor totally controlled Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira on the ground here thats very impressive.

  25. M3 says:

Not to Mention Fedors Power i dont think Anderson Silva has ever been hit that hard, i mean who in that devision can hit like that! i cant think of anybody

  26. DolfanG says:

Randy is only getting older with every day that passes. If a fight could be worked out for them next year, how old would Randy be and at that age, how effective could he be?

  27. UFC fan says:

idk randy is 45 and should be already done with fighting but hes just so good that he can last that long he mabey got 2 to 3 years left remember mabey..

  28. kouch says:

    Until otherwise proven:

    AFFLICTION= 1 HIT WONDER

    One great event….the first event….

  29. gunslinger says:

    i hate 50 dollar tshirts!

  30. UFC fan says:

thats random gunslinger!! when u leave a next message say who u think would win out of FEDOR OR COULTURE!!!!
    *COULTURE*
