Quinton “Rampage” Jackson Makes Public Appearace at UFC 87 Press Conference
In his first public appearance since being arrested last month in California on hit and run charges, former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, joined by UFC President Dana White and several other UFC fighters who will be in action tomorrow at UFC 87, took to the stage yesterday at the Mall of America in Minneapolis, Minnesota for the public pre-UFC 87 press conference.
“Rampage lost the fight to Forrest Griffin. He hung out in Vegas for a week. He was hanging out by the pool and he was fasting. He wasn’t drinking. He wasn’t eating. He was drinking energy drinks,” said White at the press conference. “You saw what happened on TV, the problems that he had. They took him in for psychiatric evaluation for over 72 hours. What they came back with was that there was nothing wrong with him mentally, it was physically. He was exhausted. He had severe dehydration. And that caused something called delirium.”
“I’m already training, so my next opponent better watch out,” said Jackson. “…That was the worst mistake I ever made, I got Dana over my back all the time. ‘Did you eat? Did you sleep? Drink your water?’ It’s like I’m two years old, but it’s all good. I love Dana man. He’s the first one to really take care of me and show me love.”
With his physical problems apparently behind him and legal ones still looming ahead, White expects Jackson back in the octagon soon.
“Apparently they tell us he’s over it now, said White. “He is healthy mentally and physically. He will be back in the UFC soon.”

where’s the rest of the story? dude i’m not sure if rampage should jump right back into the cage so soon, especially since there are still legal issues to deal with. If he does come back soon, it’s definately going to be “the axe murderer”. That would be a great fight!

That would def. be a great fight! But I don’t know if Rampage could handle a 2nd straight loss overall and 3rd loss to the hands of Silva. I think Dana should give him a fight against vera or Jardine. Someone with a good rep and name but that he can probably beat.

if he were to face Wanderlei in Dec he probably would lose and my thoughts are why would Dana/Joe Silva do that to him? this is actually a time where i kinda wish that Tito had one more fight left on his contract (ofcourse to see Rampage destroy Tito)….
perhaps the UFC will put him up against that Brazilian kid that Thiago beat @ UFC 84 or someone of that caliber i dont think putting him in with Wand is the best idea for him, remember the last time they fought Rampage was hanging out of the ropes ko’d and if they do fight it will be Rampages 2nd loss in a row then what?

Yeah i don’t know a bout that one. Even though Tito is on the downside of his career I don’t think that would have been a good match up. Tito is still a dangerous fighter and could have possibly upset Rampage. It would have been a good fight to see though.
y is everyone worried about what’s best for rampage. trust me, he has plenty of $ and if he does fight wanderlei, he’ll be making beacoup cash. that’s a treat for all the fans. mir vs. nog, penn vs. huerta/florian, wandi vs. rampage, all they need is a crazy WW fight, maybe hughes serra will fight on that same card. that would be sick!!!
im worried cuz if rampage loses he might go on a killing spree at the arena… and kelvin mat/mat wont happen. hughes can’t fight for 6 to 7 months. but that would be awsome
damn, i thought hughes was coming back sooner than that. but what if rampage won against wandi, that would probably mean either liddell/rampage III or he might get a crack at forrest before liddell (assuming liddell KO’s evans like we all know he’s going to)
i would rather see CHUCK/RAMPAGE III… more of a story….

kelvin, most of his fans are worried about him not because of his personal finances, yet for the fact they’re fans of his and nobody wants to see greatness destroy itself ala Stu Unger now is Rampage the greatest no, but its not really about how much the guy makes its perhaps because @ 30(ish) years of age the guy may have lost his damn mind because he was fasting and only drinking energy drinks..why would he fast after cutting weight anyways idunno just my thoughts…
i think machida should be next after chuck/evens rampage has to win 2 fights before he gets a shot again

Please, No Wanderlei. I might go crazy myself if he has to fight him. I can’t as a diehard Rampage fan bear seeing those vicious knees from Wanderlei connect with Quinton’s grill. What about Quinton vs. Thiago Silva or something. I dont know, just not Wandy.

there it is kev, if Machida wins and assumebly Chuck wins, Chuck gets the title shot in Dec (because whats the last show of the year without Chuck Liddell) then Machida and Rampage should fight for the #1 contender spot when and where and why? i leave that up to you, but that would be a wonderful test for both fighters, Rampage wont let Machida get too far away from him (Machida is skilled, not Starnes in my opionion) and if Machida gets past Thiago then we will see how “good” Machida is, randomly put outhere…..
