I was at UFC 86, with a good view of the action, and myself and the 8 people around me all had Forrest Griffin winning a VERY close decision. I feel he definitely won that fight, even though I was worried that Rampage would win via the aforementioned "champion's edge," where a contender is expected to dominate the champ in order to win a decision. I don't think that needs to be the case, he just needs to WIN the fight, and anyone who doubts that round 2 was 10-8 needed to see it live. I only mention these things because the judges are right there watching it live, while most of the people on here only see what the cameras show on PPV, and especially what highlights they show between rounds (which were mostly the only 3 punches Rampage landed in the whole fight that actually did any damage). A lot of the shots Rampage threw in the exchanges were also blocked or deflected by Griffin, which no one seems to have realized. I just figured I'd thrown in my two cents since I happened to be there to see it. Oh and for all the Mayhem Monkeys out there I was two rows behind Mayhem, and he definitely made the night interesting, like when he yelled to Lytle to "aim for [Koscheck's] stupid hair!" to which we all started cheering. Except for the few elbows that opened up (and worsened) that gash, he was basically just Josh "The Wet Blanket" Koscheck again... and he wondered why he got booed by the live crowd. And Cote/Almeida was just as boring live as it was on TV... Cote was too scared of the ground and Almeida seemed to gas fairly early.

Anyone who thinks Jackson won that fight has no idea about MMA. If you haven't practiced MMA yourself for a number of years, please don't comment. Forrest did much more damage first off, he gave Jackson a lot of trouble in his left leg and the only thing Jackson did was open up Forrest's scar tissue (which every opponent does to him). It doesn't take much to open up cuts and it doesn't do any damage either. What's worse a cut on your face or an injury to your leg which severely hinders both your offensive and defensive abilities. Forrest also dominated the position game the entire time, he had Jackson in side-mount and mount for a long time where as Jackson couldn't even get to half-guard.

Had this been a real fight with no rounds or time limit Forrest would have won because he would have kept Jackson mounted until he subbed or was TKO'd. Forrest was smart about not getting knocked out, which was the only thing Jackson could have done to Forrest. Had they continued to fight round after round Forrest would have eventually warn down Jackson and either subbed him or beat him into TKO.

What fight were you guys watching. In no way did Forest win that fight. His performance was impressive but not enough to take the title. Forest won round 2 and you can make an argument for him in the final round but Jackson clearly won the other 3. With the exception of the leg kick that really hurt Jackson he inflicted no further damage! Jackson hurt Forest several times and was the clear winner in just about every exchange they had. 10-8 in the second??? Did you guys miss the Koscheck-Lytle fight?? Not a single 10-8 round for Koscheck although he clearly punished and DOMINATED Lytle throughout the fight. Unfortunately, as great a sport as the UFC is, I think Griffin-Jacskon title fight is going to lead to the same problems professional boxing has right now. Win by knockout, or suffer the wrath of an unjust scoring system!

I don't see why Machida shouldn't be the first challenger to Forrest's title. I like both fighters a lot so hard for me side with any of them. Other than Rashad Evans (Who technically has a loss because of the point deduction Tito got) Machida is the only one undefeated at 205 and Shogun, Liddell, Wanderlei, and most recently Rampage have all had losses in the at least one or two of their most recent 3 fights. Machida is not "boring" just the way Forrest wasn't tonight-he just won't stand there and put his face out there for you to hit. I think a fight with Forrest would be a highly technical battle and test of heart of Machida. Everyone knows Forrest has heart.

I watched the fight very closely from the beginning to end. I like both fighters. Forrest always shows a lot of heart so i wouldn't have been surprised if he'd ended up beating Rampage. In fact, coming into the fight I didn't think Rampage would match up very well against Griffin. But Griffin did not win this fight. I scored the bout 49-46 in favor of Jackson, but you could argue many things. I wouldn't have been too shocked if one of the judges had scored the fight 48-47 in favor of Rampage, but that is as close as it gets to Griffin winning this fight. Griffin put on a great show and created opportunities, but he didn't outscore Jackson. I don't see how ANY of the judges could've said with a clear conscience that Griffin won this fight. Some people believe a challenger must totally dominate a fight against a champ in order to take a belt. I disagree with that because there is a difference between dominating an entire fight and decisively winning a fight. All the challenger needs to do is decisively win the fight. However, Griffin did not even do that. I'm not saying that Griffin can't decisively win if they fight again because this fight could've ended up going either way (and so can the rematch). But it's a shame to see a champion decisively win a fight and still have his belt stripped from him. Unbelievable... These judges shouldn't be allowed to judge another title fight.

Way to close of a fight for a champion to lose his belt. Forrest looked good but Rampage was the one landing all the hard shots. Even with a 10-8 round for Forrest it should have still went to Rampage.,
